00:00Did you learn anything different overnight about how the NBA operates and how Ballmer's writing a $30 million check and
00:07he's not happy, but there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of recourse for him at this point, given
00:16how the NBA went about this with hiring an outside law firm.
00:19And I'm not quite sure how you fight it. If you're Ballmer, you're just going to have to write the
00:24check and and suck it up. But guys that are worth one hundred and eighty trillion dollars don't tend to
00:31admit fault, do they, Greg?
00:34No, and that's that's what's going to happen. And the only things that I learned is, number one, they're going
00:38to appeal this decision. The idea is, is that there's a chance that they may win some of the appeal,
00:45which is they won't get hit as hard with the penalties that they currently have now.
00:49And then the other thing that I just sort of heard people talking about, as we talked about, like those
00:54draft picks, is that with with the way that the Clippers are going, the way to punish the Clippers would
01:01have been more for the next year or two, as opposed to years down the line.
01:04Because basically, Joe, all the Clippers are going to do is just accumulate draft picks from other teams in the
01:09next five years. So it'll crush them this year. It'll crush them next year.
01:13But they'll trade Garland and some of those other players that they have. They'll get picks for three years down
01:18the line and a bunch of first round picks.
01:20And it's like it never happened. The real penalties seem to be now losing their general manager for six months,
01:26losing their first round pick for this month for this year.
01:30Excuse me. Some other people that can't be around the team and involved. It feels like more of a penalty
01:35for this year and really not so much after.
01:39Does it shock you? Because it seems to shock a lot of people that and I would take this any
01:45day.
01:46I mean, if you told me and I think collectively the actual income for Kawhi Leonard from all of these
01:54companies that basically skirted the whole cap hit, right?
01:58I mean, he was getting paid from four different companies. Almost $70 million during his time there.
02:06He's got to give $700,000 back, Craig. $70 million. I would take that penalty all day if you told
02:14me I could make $70 million and it only costs me $700,000 to do.
02:20Is Kawhi Leonard the biggest winner out of this, I'm wondering?
02:25Supposedly, he doesn't even want to go play in Toronto. That's what some of the stuff that I saw today
02:30is that he would prefer to go somewhere else.
02:32I mean, that's what that's the troubling thing for me about about this NBA. It's like these guys want to
02:37go somewhere and then they're there for like a year and then they don't even want to play there anymore.
02:41So, and somebody else used the analogy, by the way, for what you just said, the $700,000 to like
02:47the average person that's, you know, making a decent living. It's like $700 bucks.
02:52That's what it is to him. Like $700 bucks.
02:55You tell me who the big winner here was. Yeah, Kawhi Leonard is for sure.
