00:06Hi everyone. Welcome back to the channel. Before we begin, don't forget to like this
00:12video and subscribe to the channel for more useful tech tutorials. In this video, I'll
00:17give you a complete, honest review of the Billabilly website and tell you whether it's
00:22actually worth your time. A lot of YouTubers are pushing videos claiming Billabilly is
00:27a hidden goldmine, that you can make thousands of dollars overnight just by uploading videos.
00:32But that's not the full picture, and most of them aren't giving you honest, complete
00:37information. Here's the thing, many of these creators claim Billabilly pays better than
00:42YouTube, yet they themselves keep uploading on YouTube, not Billabilly. Why? Because they're
00:48chasing views and fame here, not actually using the platform they're promoting. They also claim
00:54Billabilly pays around 97 cents per thousand views. Is that true? Let's find out, starting
01:00with a quick look at YouTube for comparison.
01:07YouTube Overview
01:10YouTube is used worldwide. It's a truly global platform. People from nearly every country and
01:17region share and watch videos on it. And its app is available on the Google Play Store.
01:22To monetize on YouTube, you need to meet certain requirements, 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch
01:28hours, which is not an easy milestone to hit. Once monetized, YouTube typically pays between
01:34$5 and $20 per 1,000 views, with higher rates for views coming from the US and UK.
01:43What is Billabilly? Now let's talk about Billabilly, a platform that's been trending a lot in YouTube
01:50tutorials lately. Billabilly is a Chinese video and entertainment platform that started in June 2009
01:56and was officially named Billabilly in January 2010. It originally focused heavily on anime,
02:02comics, and gaming, commonly known as ACG. However, Billabilly has expanded significantly and today
02:09includes many different categories, including technology, education, gaming, lifestyle, entertainment,
02:16live streaming, and other forms of user-generated content. On October 9th, 2016, it launched a
02:23premium membership subscription costing around 25 yen per month. Now, it's going worldwide and operates
02:30in some of the countries. Here's the Billabilly website, and as you can see, everything is in
02:37Chinese. Unless you're fluent, you'll need a translator, so I'm using Google Translate or
02:43webpage Translate to navigate the site. Before creating an account, it's worth knowing that
02:49Google services are banned in China. Chinese platforms rely on their own domestically developed
02:54apps instead. Even widely used worldwide apps like WhatsApp aren't available there.
02:59Access to YouTube is also restricted, which is part of why platforms like Billabilly exist,
03:05as local alternatives built to compete with YouTube. As for earnings, Billabilly's payout rate
03:11isn't officially confirmed. Many sources estimate it's around 70 cents per 1,000 views, but there's
03:18no fixed or official rate published by the company, so treat these numbers as unverified estimates.
03:27Creating an account. Let's try creating an account and explore the platform together.
03:32If you sign up through the website, there are quite a few restrictions. It's not the easiest process.
03:39You can create an account or log in through the website using
03:43your phone number, WeChat login, Weibo login, QQ login. The site doesn't accept browser translation
03:52on the sign-up page, and you'll get a pop-up asking you to use the original URL instead.
03:57If you're using the app instead, note that Billabilly's app isn't available on the Google Play Store.
04:02I'll cover how to get it in a separate video soon.
04:05You can log in using Google account, Facebook account.
04:10One tip, when signing up with your mobile number, the page doesn't scroll with your mouse cursor.
04:16Use your keyboard's page up, page down, or spacebar instead to scroll and find your country code.
04:21After selecting your country code, enter your number. You'll then need to solve a verification puzzle,
04:28after which an OTP will be sent to you. Enter it to log in.
04:32Once you're logged in, everything will again be in Chinese by default, so you'll need to translate again.backslash.
04:39At the top of the page, you'll see several tabs.
04:42Tap on the account section to find your Billabilly ID and other settings.
04:47From here, you can customize your channel theme, log out, and access several other options.
04:55Next, go to the personal center. Keep in mind, every time you open a new tab or page, it reloads
05:02in Chinese by default.
05:04You'll need to manually translate each page if your browser supports it.
05:08Honestly, this is one of the most frustrating parts of using the platform.
05:12On the main screen, you'll see various options, including rewards.
05:19Under my profile, you can change your profile picture.
05:24Under my information, you can update your nickname, add a signature, and enter your date of birth.
05:31I'll skip over a few smaller options here.
05:34I'll cover those in a separate, more detailed video.
05:39My wallet
05:39One major downside, this page isn't translatable by default, so you'll need to know Chinese or use a translation tool.
05:48I used Google Gemini's side panel to translate it.
05:52After translating, here's what I found.
06:12Here's the key thing to understand.
06:15Billabilly pays creators in shells, which you then convert into yuan, China's official currency.
06:21The conversion rate is 1 shell equals 1 yuan.
06:24Overall, this isn't a simple or globally accessible payout process, especially for creators outside China.
06:32YouTube remains significantly easier and more straightforward when it comes to earning and withdrawing money.
06:42Uploading videos on Billabilly
06:44Now let's look at how to actually upload a video.
06:47Click Contribute to get started.
06:50You'll see the platform's requirements.
06:52Video size
06:54Under 16 GB
06:55Video length
06:57Under 10 hours
06:58Recommended formats
07:00MP4, MKV, or MOV
07:03These transcode the fastest.
07:06Recommended resolution
07:071080p or 4K
07:09Higher resolution means better quality.
07:12Click Upload and select your video file from your device.
07:15After selecting the video, you'll fill in basic details, title, description, and cover image.
07:25Your cover image should follow a 4 to 3 or 16 to 9 aspect ratio.
07:37You can also add labels, similar to tags on YouTube, before submitting your video.
07:43So, based on everything we have covered and shown in this video, Billabilly is not a better option than YouTube
07:50for most creators, especially those outside China.
07:53Here is why.
07:54There's no fixed, officially confirmed payout rate.
07:57The payment and withdrawal system isn't built for global creators.
08:02The app is not available on the Google Play Store, which raises safety and reliability concerns for installing it from
08:08third-party sources.
08:10If you're a creator looking for a reliable, global platform with transparent monetization, YouTube remains the stronger choice.
08:18If you found this helpful, hit that like button, subscribe for more honest tech reviews, and drop a comment below
08:24if you have tried Billabilly yourself.
08:26I'd love to hear your experience.
08:28See you in the next video.
