00:14big lesson for me and also for the government is that people are happy with the EEA agreement, they're happy
00:21with the current relationship with the EU, so I don't see this as a setback, I see this as a

00:27We had over 80% of the country participate in a matter like this, with withdrawal, so we will be
00:34discussing this within the parliament, when we went through this a few years back and the accession talks were basically
00:41halted, there was no agreement or discussion with the parliament at the time, we think it's crucial right now that
00:48we take stock, we make a decision of what we do with basically the proposal or the application at this
00:56point,
00:56but I want to make it absolutely clear, this government is not going forward with the accession talks this term,
01:03but it also goes to show, which I think is a positive thing, that a lot of Icelanders also feel
01:10safe in this environment, they feel safe under the realm of NATO,
01:13we have a good bilateral defense agreement with the US, we have had strong ties to the EU through the
01:22EEA agreement, we have good bilateral ties.
