00:53something that is a spin
00:54off of this series but that is nothing like
00:56it in terms of genre or style
00:58or anything else which I thought

01:02now science fiction is not like
01:05a hobby for them
01:06is what the whole point
01:08of the show

01:11that connects to
01:12one of the things we talked about is
01:13it's a show
01:14that the characters in the Big Bang Theory would watch
01:19and argue about
01:20and some would like and some would not like
01:24the show is so enjoyable for someone who loved the Big Bang Theory and you know by heart
01:30all the episodes
01:31but also for someone completely new
01:33so how did you balance these two things?
01:36I think the goal was
01:38was not to exclude anyone from enjoying this
01:43you know
01:43not to be so inside
01:46with the stories and comedy
01:47that if you didn't watch the Big Bang Theory you wouldn't get it
01:50that wouldn't be fair
01:52and you know I think you want to welcome
01:54everyone to watch and enjoy
01:56regardless of whether they've seen anything of the Big Bang Theory
01:59was it also scary to go out from your comfort zone?
