00:00Mr. President, Canada is America's second-largest
00:02trading partner.
00:03Are there any plans for renewed trade talks
00:06between the U.S. and Canada?
00:07And has there been any decline in terms of
00:10Canadian tourism to the U.S.?
00:11And perhaps you focus on the U.S.
00:12The President- Well, I don't know.
00:13I can tell you this.
00:14You know, Canada has been ripping off the United
00:16States for many, many years, for decades.
00:18Many decades.
00:20We lost anywhere from $60 to $100 billion with Canada.
00:25We traditionally lose that for the last 15 years.
00:30It's a very unfair deal.
00:32They charge tremendous tariffs to our farmers.
00:34They take advantage of our farmers.
00:36They take advantage of our tourists.
00:38They take advantage of airlines.
00:40Something that nobody brought up.
00:42I'll bring it up right now.
00:43They think it's so sensitive, but I don't
00:45find it sensitive.
00:46Canada has all of its major banks here, and
00:49we're their biggest source of income, far
00:50bigger than they are in Canada.
00:52They basically don't allow banks of America to
00:56be in Canada.
00:57That's sort of emblematic of the way they treat us.
00:59Think of it.
01:00So they have their banks here.
01:02Bank of Canada, all of the big banks, big,
01:05beautiful banks.
01:06I think they have six or seven major banks here.
01:09We don't have our banks there.
01:11You know why?
01:11They don't allow it.
01:12I had a case about a week ago where a friend of
01:16mine was buying a Gulfstream jet, and he said,
01:21you know, it's a crazy thing.
01:23We're not able that Canada won't certify Gulfstream.
01:27They won't certify it.
01:29Gulfstream is the best private jet, you know, considered the best of the best, and they won't
01:35certify it in Canada because they make a competitor, Bombardier Global Express.
01:42And so their competitor didn't want them to have competition.
01:47So for approximately nine years, this has been going on.
01:51They won't certify Gulfstream.
01:54So he's very friendly with Gulfstream.
01:56He told the head of Gulfstream to call me, gave him the numbers we called.
01:59We spoke.
01:59He said, sir, I've spent $60 million trying to get certified in Canada.
02:04I can't get certified in Canada.
02:05They won't do it.
02:06So I immediately said, I'm putting a major tariff on Bombardier and other things that
02:11they sent until they're certified.
02:13They got certified in two hours.
02:17I got a call from the prime minister, President, what seems to be the problem?
02:23I said, well, you have a little problem.
02:24For nine years, you didn't certify Gulfstream.
02:27Essentially, they can't sell any plane in anything having to do with Canada.
02:32But Bombardier has free reign over the United States, both good planes, very good planes.
02:38And I said, so what we're going to do is we're going to charge you tariffs on various products,
02:44including Bombardier.
02:45We put a nice big and within 30 minutes, I guess, took maybe less.
02:52Everything got certified.
02:54He told me they spent millions and millions of dollars on legal fees over about a nine
02:59year period trying to do it.
03:01I did it in a matter of moments.
03:03But that's the way they treat us.
03:06And I thought that was really egregious.
03:08It was incredible because everyone knows how good the Gulfstream is.
03:11It's a it's the best plane and for them to not be allowed to sell it in Canada.
03:17But that's the way they are.
03:19And people are surprised when I say it, like I have China coming here.
03:22A lot of people say, who's the toughest one to deal with?
03:24Is it China, sir?
03:25Is it China?
03:26Is it Vietnam?
03:27I said, no, actually, it's Canada.
03:29Canada has felt emboldened with their presidents.
03:34It didn't know what was happening.
03:35Not only the last one.
03:37All of them.
03:37I mean, they just were taken into our country's been taken advantage of by Canada.
03:44They took 20 percent of our car industry out.
03:47I don't blame them for that.
03:48But if we would have had a president that knew what was happening, nobody would have left.
03:51Now they're all coming back.
03:53All they would have had to do is charge tariffs and they would have put tariffs on.
03:56If you build a car in Canada, you have to pay a 25 percent tariff and nobody could pay.
04:02And if that didn't work, you make it 50 percent.
04:04Or if that didn't work, you make it 100 percent.
04:07And we have everybody coming.
04:08Or you stop doing business with the nation.
04:11You know, when we lose 60 to 100 billion dollars with Canada, I could say, well, if we don't
04:17do business because we don't need to, we have more oil and gas than they do.
04:21We have tremendous forests.
04:24We don't need their lumber.
04:25We don't need the things they have.
04:27They need what we have.
04:28They do most of their business with us.
04:31I've heard numbers 95 percent.
04:33We do a very small percentage compared to others.
04:35We do a very small percentage by comparison to that.
04:39But they need us.
04:40We don't need them.
04:41They've taken advantage of us for years.
04:43And it's time to stop.
04:45We can't lose 60 to 100 billion dollars a year for the privilege of allowing them to make cars.
04:52We don't want their cars.
04:53We want the cars to be made in Detroit and in South Carolina and in Tennessee
04:58and in all of our places where we make cars.
05:00We don't want them to be made in Canada.
05:02So this is nothing against anybody.
05:05And this started with Trudeau.
05:07Trudeau and I used to have it out pretty good.
05:09And now we have this new guy who is a nice guy.
05:12But, you know, he's just.
05:13And then they have the other guy, the slob.
05:17I guess some people call him a slob.
05:19I don't want to call him that because I want to be nice.
05:21But and I did change the name of a certain lake to Lake America, just like I changed the name
05:28of the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.
05:32And people in this country love it.
05:34You know, we have 92 percent of the frontage.
05:37And why was it Gulf of Mexico?
05:39We have most of the frontage, almost all 93, 94 percent.
05:45So we do things like that because we're fighting for our country.
05:48Canada has taken advantage of us.
05:50They have ripped us off for years.
05:51And now we're turning the tables very, very easily turning the tables.
05:55Mr. President, I don't want to be on this very foreign bill as necessary.
05:58Mr. President, I don't want to be on this very foreign bill as necessary.
