Being Heumann Revisits Judy Heumann’s Historic Fight

Ruth Madeley stars as disability rights activist Judy Heumann in Being Heumann with Mark Ruffalo joining the cast. The film follows Heumann and a coalition of activists as they refuse to back down during a pivotal fight for accessibility and civil rights.

Directed by CODA filmmaker Siân Heder Being Heumann centers on the historic 1977 occupation of the San Francisco Federal Building where protesters spent 28 days demanding enforcement of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Being Heumann opens in select theaters November 6, 2026, and streams November 13 on Apple TV.
