00:00I read the script, I just thought it was so beautiful, and when I read the last part of the
00:05script, I cried, which is a very, very rare thing for me, and I also knew that, I think my
00:13agent said, oh, Michael's shooting his second movie right now, and I was like, I better just check out his
00:19first movie, the script is great, let me just check it out.
00:22And I was 20 minutes into watching Pig, when I rang my agent, I said I'm in, because there was
00:27a confidence, I agree, there's a lyricism, but there's a confidence, every frame has, there's a vision, the vision is
00:34coherent all through, and I think Michael's one of the great voices in film right now.
00:44I was fascinated by this, it's something that I share with my son, we're both really interested in this era,
00:51this time, as well as the Robin Hood mythology, which is something I've loved as a boy, I knew a
00:58little bit about the, it's not a poem, it was a song, wasn't it?
01:02A ballad, a ballad, yeah.
01:04A ballad song, somewhere in the game.
01:05Then I just sort of started reading about it, where Robin Hood, was he real, was he fictitious, where does
01:13the mythology come from, and what fascinated me was how the myth of Robin Hood changed depending on the political
01:20backdrop of the time.
01:21So the Robin Hood we know of now, this sort of, you know, robbing for the rich, to give to
01:27the poor, this sort of champion of the poor, really only started around the 1500s, when things were starting to
01:33change politically here.
01:34Prior to that, he was just a murderous, brigand, bad guy, like he was a cautionary tale.
01:40And I was fascinated at how it changed.
01:42To be clear, bloodletting does not work.
01:46Science behind it, you just lose a lot of blood, and you do die.
01:50We didn't.
