00:00For months, Angel fans have been delivering the same message to team owner Artie Marino.
00:05Sell the team! Sell the team!
00:07Well, Angels fans, Christmas just came in September for you because you finally got your wish.
00:12I'm Michael Duarte with the California Post, and in a stunning move on Tuesday,
00:16Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who also owns the Denver Nuggets,
00:21the Colorado Avalanche, the Colorado Rapids of MLS, and Premier League team Arsenal,
00:25has just added another jewel to his sports empire.
00:28He has agreed on a record-breaking sale price far exceeding the $3.9 billion just outlaid
00:34for the San Diego Padres in a deal with Artie Marino to become the controlling shareholder
00:38of the Los Angeles Angels, ending a tumultuous 23-year tenure for current team owner
00:44and first MLB Latino owner Artie Marino.
00:47Now, the timing of this, guys, could not be more fascinating.
00:50Just days ago, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law the Home Run for Anaheim Act.
00:55It's a new California law that could potentially alter and change the future of the Angels.
01:00Not only could the name change, they could go back to being the Anaheim Angels per this law,
01:04but it also has a play over the 150-acre lot standing where Anaheim Stadium is between the
01:11five freeways.
01:12So, Stan Kroenke now being the new owner, he could choose to bulldoze and build a new stadium
01:16like he did at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
01:19He could move the team when that lease is up in 2030, whether it be Long Beach or Inglewood,
01:23as many people are saying.
01:24But here's one thing we do know.
01:26Artie Marino had, on his roster at one point, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani at the same time,
01:32two generational players for six consecutive seasons.
01:34No playoff win since 2009.
01:37And Angels fans have demanded change all year long.
01:41And now they're finally getting it.
