On 26th October 2009, Air France Flight 695 took off from Miami bound for Paris at 1830 hours. After 65 minutes over the Atlantic, there were three explosions in the left outer engine of this 747. The plane vibrated with every explosion! The pilots decided that three engines were enough to take the flight over the Atlantic to Paris. After flying another 100 odd minutes, the pilots decided to return to Miami. About one hour away from Miami, the cockpit crew started circling over the sea shedding aviation fuel. After 60 minutes of circling and emptying the fuel tanks, the flight finally landed back at Miami. The passengers were taken off the aircraft an hour after landing & shifted to hotels. A new aircraft was flown in from Paris the next morning & the flight took off on the 27th October 2009 - a day late! My Dad & I were passengers on this flight & I used my BB to record a few stressful moments after the pilots decided to return back. You can watch the journey on the moving air-map!
