World Bog Snorkeling Championship celebrates its 40th year in Wales

Spectators cheer on fancy-dress clad swimmers competing in the World Bog Snorkeling Championships, a bizarre sporting event in rural Wales celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The rules allow flippers but impose strict doggy paddling only, and breathing through a snorkel. "It's just like a chance to be outside and doing something a bit unconventional" says spectator, Emma Morton. "[The idea] started over a beer," says competition marshall, June Duncan, praising the event as a way to "keep people coming to town as tourists."
