00:16This was one of the most bizarre protests of the decade.
00:20Dozens of riot police attended a rally in a village in Germany, where climate campaigners
00:25were demonstrating against a new coal mine.
00:30Unfortunately for the cops, they were foiled by the thick mud.
00:34They ended up getting stuck and falling over in the quagmire.
00:58This was the only one of the most bizarre protests in the city of the city of the city of
01:02the city of the city.
01:09I don't know.
01:46I don't know.
02:20Everything is just that little bit more colorful in Thailand.
02:26So it was no different when it came to their own version of the Asian Spring.
02:31Protesters carried hundreds of rubber ducks to show their anger.
02:41At another, there were inflatable dinosaurs.
02:46Light waving in Harry Potter costumes even became a trend.
02:50Some protesters pushed the boundaries of taste with a satirical fashion show mocking the country's princess, but they were quickly
02:57dealt with.
03:33typical music
03:51The return of Hong Kong from the trade and liberty-loving British to the authoritarianism
03:56of the Chinese Communist Party was always going to be a bitter pill to swallow for residents
04:00who had become accustomed to a more democratic way of life in the shadow of Queen Victoria.
04:06And so it was in 2020 when young people protested against the growing power of the mainland
04:11over the small enclave popular with expat bankers.
04:18Sadly, just like the US soldiers of Texas, they were ultimately sealing themselves into
04:22the Alamo and, predictably, found themselves being punished when Xi Jinping cracked down
04:26on their rebelliousness.
05:00So many money!
05:02I love you.
05:11I love you.
05:13I love you.
05:14I love you.
05:15I love you.
05:15They are dedicated to compassion.
05:17If you're being compassionate then please stop using animals for entertainment.
05:23Blood, blood, blood.
05:25Blood, blood.
05:28Cosmolitan.
05:30There are few more noble causes than campaigning for the rights of those who don't have a voice.
05:35It helps when they're small and furry and cute.
05:38Or in the case of elephants, large and leathery and cute.
05:42That's where PETA comes in.
05:44Their protests have become increasingly extravagant and headline-grabbing,
05:48from body paint to mock slaughters.
05:51They push the boundaries of what defines a conventional demonstration.
05:55Litigation has even become one of their forms of protest,
05:58with court cases launched on behalf of monkeys and orcas.
06:29There is no excuse for animal abuse.
06:35Jackets are not an excuse for animal abuse.
06:39There is no excuse for animal abuse.
06:44Protesters love pantomime villains.
06:46And with President Trump's reputation somewhat restored by his sweeping victory in 2024
06:51and attempts to bring world peace,
06:53anti-fascists turned their attention to Trump's first buddy Elon Musk.
07:07Musk had campaigned for Trump,
07:09so angry mobs attacked any Tesla cars they could find and threw paint on Tesla showrooms.
07:24They became confused when Musk and Trump had a spectacular falling out
07:28and realized that Musk has done more than anyone to bring in the EV revolution and help the climate.
07:32Which brings us to our next group.
07:49Few movements have been more infuriating to the general public than the climate movement.
07:56Whereas once the demos were led by harmless eco-hippies at Greenpeace,
08:00who were regarded quite fondly,
08:04a new radical segment called Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil emerged.
08:10This cult has roped in lots of well-heeled and well-educated young protesters,
08:15as well as equally well-heeled and well-educated pensioners,
08:18who take pride in smashing art installations or hurling orange paint over buildings.
08:36But for the public,
08:38these climate extremists cause the greatest annoyance when they block roads,
08:41which is especially frustrating for anyone with actual jobs to reach.
08:46However,
08:47everyone who has had a parcel from Amazon go missing supported them
08:51when they targeted the wedding of its multi-squillionaire owner Jeff Bezos,
08:55because he doesn't help the planet enough.
09:17There are a few things that upset farmers more than being hit in the pocket.
09:21And in recent years,
09:23landowners across Europe have been battered by a barrage of tax increases and trade deals that would harm their livelihoods.
09:29So what do farmers do when they're angry?
09:31Why drive their tractors of course?
09:33Whether it's blocking roads in London or surrounding landmarks in Paris,
09:37farmers sure know how to protest once they put their minds to it.
10:17What do you think when they're revenue?
10:37Oh, my God, my God.
10:51For most people, the Maori tribe are known by their somewhat uncomfortable dance performed
10:56at the start of rugby matches. This dance is called the haka,
11:03and it never fails to evoke a reaction from spectators.
11:11Now, many of the people with indigenous Maori heritage in New Zealand are using that same
11:16energy to push for rights and protections in the country. If it means we get to keep
11:20seeing that iconic tribal ritual, it's a good thing.
11:51We are calling for local businesses for the same life as a region.
11:59So it's not a modern life that we should be fighting for.
12:03But it's not the only one we should be fighting for the same sort of nation,
12:05but we keeping our own.
12:08And the last one, the people with messages come from where the police are being
12:30The Black Lives Matter movement actually began in 2013, but was hardly known until it took
12:35off in 2020. The catalyst was the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the knee of
12:40a policeman. This sparked mass protests across the United States and led to sportsmen and
12:51women around the world taking the knee, a trend that continues to this day.
13:01For the incumbent president, one Donald Trump, the timing of the demonstrations and the ensuing
13:06carnage could hardly have been worse and was one of the factors in his election loss.
13:19The Black Lives Matter!
13:25Take the man!
13:27Take the man!
13:29Take the man!
13:30Take the man!
13:32Take the man!
13:33Take the man!
14:05The opposite is true.
14:08The opposite of what he just said is true.
14:10Jonathan, this is a video.
14:12Fuck white supremacy.
14:14Fuck white supremacy.
14:16Fuck white supremacy.
14:18Fuck white supremacy.
14:20Let's go, lives matter.
14:26Relax, relax.
14:29Relax, relax.
14:31Relax, relax, relax.
14:36You're going to get arrested.
14:38This is your only warning that you're going to get.
14:41Don't stop.
14:44Press.
14:46Press.
15:02The 2020 U.S. presidential elections were supposed to be a glorious second term for Donald Trump.
15:08Well, at least in his mind.
15:10Trump was regularly seen dancing on the campaign trail.
15:13But alas, that fairytale ending was not meant to be.
15:22What started as a strong campaign for the billionaire property developer quickly descended into chaos.
15:30The Democratic candidate Joe Biden emerged as the winner of the vote, something that proved hard to accept for Trump
15:36and his supporters.
15:37He said he supports Trump.
15:40Mass protests erupted that culminated in the storming of the Capitol building on January 6th.
15:46Critics claimed that Trump had incited the violence.
15:49He was federally indicted in 2023 for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election, including conduct tied to the January
15:576th, 2021, Capitol attack.
16:01Trump and allies were charged in Georgia state court in 2023 under racketeering and other laws for allegedly trying to
16:08overturn his 2020 loss in that state.
16:10That led to this iconic mugshot.
16:13Both cases were dropped when Trump won the 2024 U.S. elections.
16:42of the public community and attended these rallies like this one, right here.
16:46So, I really appreciate them for bringing power to the politics like we do here with the Long ولp.
16:51Hold on.
