Before Let the Right One In eventually reached television, there was another attempt to turn the famous vampire story into a TV series—and it never made it to air!

The story began as Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel, which inspired the acclaimed 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In and the 2010 American adaptation Let Me In.

In 2016, TNT ordered a television pilot based on the novel. Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis wrote the script and served as an executive producer. The planned series would once again center on a bullied young boy who develops a relationship with a mysterious young vampire.

This wasn't supposed to simply remake the American movie. Davis explained that the project was drawing inspiration from the original novel, with plans for a broader, more international approach to the story. The project had previously been developed at A&E before moving to TNT.

But that wasn't the end of Let the Right One In on television!

Years later, Showtime developed an entirely new adaptation. This version starred Demián Bichir as Mark and Madison Taylor Baez as his vampire daughter Eleanor. Showtime ultimately ordered 10 episodes, and the series premiered in October 2022.

So technically, Let the Right One In didn't just almost become a television series—it went through multiple attempts before one finally reached viewers!
