Lisa Marie Presley lived a life unlike almost anyone else. Born on February 1, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and spent her earliest years at Graceland. She was only nine years old when her father died in 1977.

In this video, we're looking at 13 fascinating facts about Lisa Marie Presley—from growing up as the daughter of the King of Rock ’n’ Roll to establishing her own identity as a singer and songwriter.

Did you know Lisa Marie eventually became the sole heir to Elvis Presley's estate? Elvis's inheritance was held in trust until she turned 25 on February 1, 1993.

And Lisa Marie wasn't simply Elvis's daughter—she became a recording artist in her own right. Her debut album, To Whom It May Concern, arrived in 2003 and reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Her second album, Now What, reached No. 9, and she later worked with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett on Storm & Grace.

Her personal life also became part of pop-culture history. Lisa Marie married Michael Jackson in 1994, and the couple famously appeared together at the MTV Video Music Awards that year. She later married actor Nicolas Cage in 2002.

Her connection to her father's music continued throughout her life. In 2018, she appeared on a reworked version of Elvis's gospel recording “Where No One Stands Alone,” creating a posthumous musical collaboration between father and daughter.

Lisa Marie died in January 2023 at age 54, but her story continues through her music, her family and the Presley legacy. Graceland later expanded its Lisa Marie: Growing Up Presley exhibit with childhood belongings, photographs, home movies and other pieces from her life.
