00:26The notice, dated January 7 last year, was served on him on January 10, requiring him to declare specified assets.
00:34According to the charge, the undeclared assets include 14.7 million ringgit in cash,
00:40along with millions more in Singapore dollars, US dollars, Swiss francs, euros, Japanese yen,
00:47British pounds and other foreign currencies, as well as five Swiss fine gold bars,
00:52weighing a kilo each, a five-gram gold coin and a 100-gram Swiss fine silver bar.
00:58The alleged offence took place at the M.A.C.C. headquarters in Putrajaya on February 7 last year.
01:05Ismail Sabri pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Susanna Hussin.
01:10The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years jail and a fine of up to 100,000 ringgit upon
01:16conviction.
01:17The prosecution argued the offence is non-bailable under the M.A.C.C. Act,
01:21but left the matter to the court's discretion, proposing bail of 500,000 ringgit with one surety,
01:28along with the condition that Ismail Sabri surrender his passport.
01:32Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Eslin Yousup Khan said this was necessary to trace his whereabouts
01:37and ensure his attendance in court.
01:39Judge Susanna allowed bail at a lower 300,000 ringgit with one family member standing as surety
01:46and fixed September 29th for mention.
01:48However, she dismissed the prosecution's application for his passport to be surrendered,
01:53ruling there was no evidence he posed a flight risk.
