00:00We've all been treated to some sequels, to some fantastic 90s and noughties films.
00:05What is it about those films that makes people want to revisit it years later and make another film?
00:11I think this film is actually because it's about sisterhood, it's about family.
00:15I think it's so fun.
00:18And when it first came out, it reached a smaller section of people than we'd hoped for.
00:25And then suddenly it found its way.
00:27And over the years, it just was like a snowball effect where it just started.
00:33And then this film is made because the fans wanted it.
00:37And so here it is.
00:39And working with a female director as well, which I know is very important to you.
00:42Third time I've worked with her.
00:43So, yes, that's been a mission of mine.
00:46We're slowly moving the needle on that.
00:49It's very slow.
00:50But also in regards to 28 years later to still be here, both Sandy and I are able to get
00:56this film greenlit.
00:57And made and pass the baton to the younger generation.
01:01That's really extraordinary.
01:03And we're proud of that.
01:04You know, it's all about trying to move it forward and make way for others.
01:08And also give them something to go, okay, it's possible.
01:12But we're kind of a bit, it's a bit of a jaw drop for us too.
01:16So, fingers crossed it does well.
01:18But either way, we got it made.
01:20Nostalgia, nostalgia.
01:21Look, this film had so much in it.
01:23And we got criticized for it when we first made it.
01:26They're like, why are there so many tones?
01:27How can you have love and humor and tragedy?
01:30I'm like, have you lived a day in the life of a woman?
01:33I said, you get all those within a 24-hour period of time.
01:36But because it wasn't an instant hit when we first made it.
01:39And it found its people and its tribe through social media.
01:43All the themes got to live over and over and over again with all the generations.
01:48And when you see something that beloved, you don't want to mess with it.
01:52But then Alice Hoffman wrote the book.
01:54And how special is it to come back all these years later as well?
01:57You know what?
01:57It's special and so easy.
01:59It's easy.
02:00And you fight for it.
02:01Fought to build the house the way that we built the house.
02:03With the garden.
02:04The garden had to be just so.
02:06And, you know, it's where my OCD came in really handy.
02:10And I'm just really proud of it because it says a lot while also giving you the entertainment that you
02:15deserve.
02:16And I hope that we did right by all the fans who loved it in the first place that got
02:20us here.
