01:27We'll give you a sense of what to expect, of course, of the Karnataka roundtable, but also we'll be focusing
01:31on what's happening in Tamil Nadu.
01:33The Assembly has been in session and as is the case every single day, when the Assembly is in session,
01:38you can expect big headlines.
01:40The Vijay government has been firefighting a whole lot of criticism on the Parandoor issue.
01:46And today in the Assembly, you have the government also giving reasons, listing out reasons as to why they haven't
01:53given the go-ahead for the Parandoor airport,
01:55suggesting essentially that it was a hub of corruption, that there was a real estate mafia linked to it.
02:03And DMK leaders had in fact huge parcels of land at the Parandoor airport site.
02:08Is that really true? What is the evidence they have? We'll get you all of those details.
02:13We'll begin with the headlines first.
02:26Amid the crackdown on food, Bosch Café's live worm horror comes to the fore.
02:33Worm in Paul Pune outlet dessert.
02:36Customer claims it was found in the dessert.
02:39Nine eateries face food department action across Mumbai.
02:48Students staged protest over IIT suicide, unrest in IIT Delhi.
02:52Students demand deans resignation after new external panels set up for probe.
03:04Allahabad High Court's big hijab order for schools says hijab not essential to Islam faith.
03:09Plea demanding hijab in schools rejected.
03:12High Court says personal choice can't alter uniform.
03:19Rapist and murderer Ram Rahim is out of jail once again.
03:23Dera chief serving life sentence in rape and murder case gets furloughed for the 17th time.
03:28This time for 21 days he'll be out to celebrate Raksha Bandit.
03:40An amid criticism of a Raki ad.
03:43Actor Kriti Sanan hits back at Rolus.
03:45Asks when will we stop telling women what to wear says culture and tradition are in our hearts, not in
03:51the neckline.
04:13What we've seen in the last few days in Tamil Nadu and on social media has been rather unfortunate.
04:19The targeting of a young 28-year-old woman minister, Kirtana in Tamil Nadu, with a video not of her
04:27but of another woman taken without her consent, shared publicly on social media and used to target the minister.
04:35Since then, of course, the TVK and the minister in question, Kirtana, has come out with a clarification as well
04:41on this entire controversy.
04:42Lashing out at Rolus first saying it wasn't her in that video and saying, so what if it was?
04:49Because all of the judgment was over clothes, attire, as below the belt as it can get.
04:54What we've got now is a conversation lined up with Vinosha Ravi.
04:59Who is Vinosha? Vinosha is the one in that video.
05:02The video, like I said, was taken without a consent and then misinterpreted to put out on social media claiming
05:08to be of Minister Kirtana.
05:09Vinosha is live with us on this broadcast. Vinosha, thank you for joining us.
05:14And first of all, I will have to say that it's been extremely, extremely brave of you to come out
05:19to speak about this, to call out the trolls in the manner that you have.
05:23I want to, you know, begin this conversation from where it all started.
05:28Vinosha, how did you find out about this video? Where did you see it? What was your reaction?
05:34The video was actually shared on my social media account.
05:38It was actually shared by one of my colleagues.
05:41I was not aware of these videos when it was going viral.
05:47So when my colleague shared to me, I was also shocked to see that video.
05:56And so, you know, right after that, I'm sure you saw the kind of comments.
06:01I'm sorry I'm having to ask you about this, but I'm sure you've seen the kind of comments that were
06:07made and who it was linked to.
06:09What did you make of that?
06:12Actually, I understand that the video was not meant for me and it was meant for Alistair.
06:17But the people who were commenting on the video were actually commenting on my figures.
06:22They were body shaming me.
06:23They were actually commenting on my features.
06:27So it actually was a bit vulgar and some of them even made trolls video, which it was also affected
06:37my family members.
06:43I'm sure. I'm sure it has.
06:45You're based in Malaysia, Vinosha.
06:48So seeing all of this playing out in Tamil Nadu, did it also leave you disappointed that this is the
06:52kind of narrative over attire,
06:54over what a woman chooses to wear, over her clothes, over, like you said, her body?
06:59Yes, because I don't think that someone should actually judge based on what a woman is wearing.
07:06I think clothing is someone's freedom.
07:09Just judging someone based on what they are wearing, it's totally wrong.
07:14And this video was taken in Malaysia, not in India.
07:18And it was, I'm not sure, lucky it was just a video.
07:22What if the person could have done anything?
07:26Because I'm not even sure who the person who took the video.
07:30It was taken somewhere where I was going to my work.
07:40So someone shot it, put it out, and the manner in which it was misinterpreted is horrifying.
07:45And, you know, all I can say is I'm sorry, Vinosha, that you had to go through that,
07:48because I'm sure it was extremely tough for you and for your family to have to go through that kind
07:53of a situation to endure that.
07:55And for no fault of yours, for no reason for you to be dragged into ugly politics, because I'm sure
08:00you also recognize that this was ultimately the result of bitter, you know, a bitter political fight.
08:13No one has reached out to me yet.
08:16I've not, I've been dealing, I've already filed a complaint on this to militian police.
08:23And so far, no one has reached out to me yet.
08:25And I'm not, I have even, I have not told anyone to take down the video because it is already
08:29going viral.
08:31But, um, I'm still receiving those comments, pros.
08:36You filed a complaint?
08:37Yes.
08:38You filed a complaint?
08:39Have you been able to kind of get any authorities help on who started this?
08:44Who started putting out your video in this manner?
08:47Actually, we are working on it.
08:49The militian police is already working on it.
08:51Um, they have contacted me.
08:55And we are already following up on this.
08:59Hmm.
09:02Have you had a chance to speak to the minister as well, Vidusha?
09:06You know, I'll just put out for you what she said a couple of days ago.
09:09She said, for the record, the woman in that video is not me.
09:12But even if it were, why should it matter?
09:14Why are a woman's clothes, appearance or joy still treated as matters for public trial?
09:20Misogyny is the oldest weapon of those who have nothing substantive to positively contribute.
09:25Have you spoken to the minister?
09:26What did you think of her message on that video that was doing the rounds?
09:31No, as I said, no one has reached out to me directly on this video circulating because, as I mentioned,
09:37like, even though it was meant for her, people are commenting on my figures there.
09:42And the words are directly to me, even though it's people in India do not know me.
09:49But here in Malaysia, definitely they will, they recognize me.
09:53So, based on her posts, I guess that it, yes, she also said that the person who is in the
10:00video is not her.
10:01But I think it could be more specific or she could take any actions on this so that it can
10:10help, it would help me.
10:12Because here, I'm getting all kinds of bad comments on this video.
10:19So, like, how it came out was, just because I dressed like that, people are just posting.
10:26But no one gives the rights to someone who can just post of someone's video just like that.
10:37I 100% agree.
10:39And, you know, all I can say right now is that I'm sorry.
10:43I don't know who these individuals are.
10:45These are trolls.
10:47You know, they don't have faces on social media.
10:49They hide behind that mask to target women.
10:51I've faced it, unfortunately.
10:53So, I know, Atingo, what you're exactly talking about, the hate that you've been facing.
10:57And I really hope, I really hope they find the person behind this.
11:01You've taken action.
11:02And we also hear your appeal, Vinosha, where you say the authorities here in India must also do what they
11:07can to find out who first started sharing that video.
11:10But more power to you.
11:11Thank you for speaking out because I think it's a great example for every woman out there to take on
11:16these kind of bullies, to take on these harassers and send them a message that, no, we're not going to
11:20sit by and stand quiet while you misinterpret videos, while you try to body shame or try to question our
11:26attire.
11:26So, thank you, Vinosha, for speaking out.
11:29More power to you.
11:31Thank you so much.
11:35So, that's Vinosha Ravi.
11:37What was her fault?
11:38Absolutely nothing.
11:39She's not even based in India.
11:40She's based in Malaysia.
11:42And yet she was dragged into this ugly political fight over the weekend for no reason, just a video of
11:47her emerging from her car, which she has no idea how it spread online.
11:50All of this used to claim that it was a 28-year-old woman minister.
11:54Let's say it was.
11:56So, what?
11:57How can that really be used to target a minister, target her on her work, target her, question her on
12:04what her credentials are and what she's doing as industries minister?
12:07But no.
12:07What we've unfortunately seen, the political narrative in Tamil Nadu, at least on social media descent to, is this.
12:14It's trolls, it's personal attacks, particularly when it comes to a woman leader, particularly when it comes to a woman
12:20nether.
12:20And Vinosha here is an unfortunate casualty of that as well.
12:25Let's get you all the reactions that have come in the last 24 hours on this tour.
12:42Three days after a viral video sparked a social media storm, the woman, who was mistaken for Tamil Nadu minister
12:50S. Kirtana, has finally broken her silence.
12:52The woman at the centre of the controversy is Vinosha Ravi, a worker in Malaysia.
12:59But let me tell you something.
13:01After being heavily trolled and wrongly identified as Kirtana, Vinosha has now filed a police complaint, alleging that she was
13:08filmed without her consent.
13:11She says the relentless trolling pushed her into depression, but her family stood by her, assuring her that there was
13:18nothing wrong with wearing a short dress.
13:22Vinosha also made a larger appeal, saying no woman should be attacked or bullied, whether it is her or minister
13:29Kirtana.
13:31But let me tell you something. It did not break me.
13:34I was down, yes, I was depressed.
13:37I was very worried about how this video is viral, and how did it go to a printer?
13:43If you have a video, you have to ask a question, if you have to ask another tie, you will
13:50still take a video, because they were meant to me.
14:05The controversy began after several social media users shared a video of a woman in a short dress, questioning whether
14:13she was Industries Minister Kirtana.
14:16The speculation soon snowballed into heavy trolling.
14:21But Kirtana later stepped in, defended the woman and made it clear, the person in the viral video was not
14:29her.
14:31Bureau Report, India Today.
14:37Okay, let's move on and get you also the other showdown that we've been seeing over the Parandur airport.
14:43One of the biggest points that's constantly being made is look at Karnataka, look at Andhra Pradesh.
14:49I'm here in Bengaluru. I just flew in from Delhi and once again wowed really by the Bengaluru airport.
14:55The constant question that then comes up in your head is why can't Chennai have this?
14:59Why can't Chennai have this kind of amazing air infrastructure, this kind of an amazing airport?
15:04The reality is that while, yes, you have the Minambakkam airport controlled by the AAI,
15:09it's not a patch really on the Bengaluru airport or the Hyderabad airport or any of the new ones that
15:14have come up.
15:15And now Parandur airport, we've taken five steps back because that project is not going to go forward,
15:20is what the TVK government has announced.
15:22Today, in the assembly, they've given more details of why they've chosen to call off this project,
15:28highlighting that it's a result of corruption, that this particular area was chosen despite farmers' objections.
15:34The TVK's contention is that a real estate mafia, and they've taken the name of a realty firm called G
15:40-Square
15:40to suggest that they were the ones who were benefiting from the Parandur project.
15:45CTR, Nirmal Kumar, the minister, Adolf Arjuna, all of them, Kirtana, they all spoke in the assembly to highlight exactly
15:51this,
15:52that this was a DMK-backed project because former ministers had a whole lot of investment of real estate in
16:00that particular area.
16:01And so there was a full-fledged showdown in the assembly on this particular issue,
16:05with the DMK continuing to suggest that with the Parandur project being cancelled,
16:09we've taken 10 steps back as far as Tamil Nadu's development is concerned.
16:13Let's get you all of those updates.
16:26The Parandur airport dream may be over for Chennai.
16:36But inside the Tamil Nadu assembly, the political turbulence is only beginning.
16:42TVK is now selling the Parandur decision as a victory for farmers,
16:48arguing that rejecting the airport project was the right call.
17:14But there is a twist.
17:18While the airport may be off the table,
17:21the Tamil Nadu government still wants to put Parandur land to industrial use.
17:45And that has opened yet another front in the TVK-DMK wall.
17:49The Parandur showdown quickly turned into a full-blown political slugfest in the assembly.
17:55TVK took aim at former chief minister M.K. Stalin's son-in-law,
18:00linking him to the G-square real estate firm, which faced ED Probe.
18:05And the DMK hit back,
18:07training its guns on lottery king Santiago Martin's son-in-law
18:11and state minister Ardhavarju.
18:14AMAAN
18:15And this is what they have done in the middle of the Q&A..
18:18The Parandur family could first do the G-square.
18:21It has to be the one in the middle of the G-square.
18:24It's one of the most horrible things.
18:27If only,
18:28the good ones were,
18:29for them as a bad ones,
18:31if they were the ones for the G-square,
18:32they would do it.
18:33The one in the middle of the G-square,
18:36the other is a behemoth.
18:58As the accusations flew thick and fast, leader of opposition Udainiti Stalin turned up the heat.
19:05Once again challenging the TVK government to put the files on the table.
19:38While the Parandur Airport project is grounded, the war between TVK and DMK is only taking off.
19:46With Pramod Madhav and Anuga Keshav, Bureau Report, India Today.
20:14State Mafia is at play here.
20:16DMK leaders had invested and that's why they have so much at stake and that there was corruption involved.
20:21Is there going to though be a formal investigation into any of this Anaka?
20:30Well, in fact, at the moment, the TVK has not spoken about any formal investigation.
20:34Till now, they have been making open allegations against the erstwhile DMK regime.
20:39Even take, for example, the three files that the Chief Minister spoke about that was lying on his table.
20:44For weeks together, they have been making allegations.
20:46But till now, the files have not been opened.
20:50And the Chief Minister says that he'll open when the right time comes.
20:53So, the bigger question that now rises is, for somebody who promised that he was going to be the change,
20:58why even wait for the right time to open those controversial files?
21:02If he really can prove that there were financial irregularities done by the previous DMK regime,
21:10then why the delay is the question that many, many are asking.
21:14But today, like we were talking, the Parandur Airport, that was the big showdown that happened in the Assembly.
21:19And therefore, the Tamarga Vetri Karagam government has given a clarification saying that this empty land now will be used
21:26for industrial purpose.
21:27But then again, a bigger problem now arises.
21:29If the people who are living in Parandur, who gave away their land, will be okay with this land now
21:35being converted for an industrial estate,
21:37would they not ask for a higher compensation?
21:40Would they not knock the doors of court asking for a higher amount than what was given in promise of
21:44an airport?
21:45So, the TVK does have a big challenge ahead.
21:48It's not going to be black and white.
21:49It is really going to be an uphill task for the TVK to convince all those people who have given
21:55away their land to the government.
22:00No, you're right.
22:01You know, this kind of starts off a vicious cycle.
22:02On one hand is what, you know, we spoke of about the corruption allegations, whether this is an investigation.
22:07But the issue of land acquisition becomes so much more difficult now because anywhere now that the TVK scouts for
22:13land,
22:14the farmers or anyone owning that land will be up and up saying, look, they managed to arm to us.
22:18We're going to be able to do it too by putting pressure.
22:20And it will obviously take political colors as well.
22:23You're right in highlighting that even within Parandur, there's going to be a challenge.
22:27The farmers met with Chief Minister Vijay earlier today to thank him as well.
22:31And then there's that question over Minam Bakam, the current airport in Chennai, which the TVK says will expand.
22:36There'll be a Terminal 5 that comes up.
22:38What about then acquisition of land in that particular area?
22:41How will they manage to ensure the people who live in those areas are also made to move out without
22:47buckling
22:47or without leading to some sort of protest?
22:49So it's a lot of complication.
22:51There's no doubt about that.
22:52But the TVK is continuing to maintain that this was the right decision.
22:56Anaka, I request you to stay with me.
22:58The other big talking point that came in from, in fact, the Tamil Nadu Assembly,
23:02something to do with where I am as well, Bengaluru and Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
23:07Between the two states, there's been tensions over Kaveri, yes.
23:10But in the last few days, over the killing of three Tamilians also in the Chamarajnagar forests.
23:15What exactly happened?
23:16Now, Karnataka says these three men were poachers, dear poachers, and they were shot dead.
23:22Tamil Nadu and particularly the opposition Tamil Nadu has questioned this particular claim,
23:26saying, no, that's not what happened.
23:29India Today has now accessed the post-mortem report.
23:31What does that reveal?
23:32That these three men were shot at close range.
23:36They seem to be signs also of torture.
23:39So, all of this has led to only more questions about what the Tamil Nadu government will do.
23:44Because remember that the opposition in Tamil Nadu is piling heat on the Vijay government,
23:48saying you need to ask questions of the D.K. Shivkumar government.
23:52The Congress is their ally.
23:56Three Tamil men, a forest firing,
24:00and now post-mortem reports that raise fresh questions
24:03over what happened inside Karnataka's Chamarajnagar forest.
24:09India Today has accessed the autopsy reports of Anthony Swamy and Sebastian David Kumar,
24:15two of the three suspected poachers shot dead by Karnataka forest department personnel on August 15.
24:23Forest officials claim they opened fire in self-defense
24:26after coming under attack during an anti-poaching operation.
24:31But Anthony Swamy's post-mortem tells a grim story.
24:35A rib fracture, pellet fragments in the abdominal wall,
24:40multiple shotgun injuries.
24:41The report says he died of bleeding caused by shotgun wounds to the right lower chest and abdomen.
24:48And the recorded range of fire, close range.
24:53Sebastian David Kumar's autopsy report,
24:55two records multiple shotgun injuries,
24:58including wounds to the left chest and right thigh.
25:01The report also records the firing as close range.
25:07So were these deaths the result of an encounter
25:09or is there more to the forest firing?
25:12The case has now been transferred to the CID.
25:17Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu leader of opposition Udenadi Stalin
25:20has alleged that the three men were tortured and killed,
25:23calling it cold-blooded murder.
25:25He's questioning the silence of the Vijay government too.
25:56Self-defense or a disputed forest encounter.
26:00The autopsy reports have spoken.
26:03Now the CID must establish what really happened.
26:07With Apoorva in Chennai,
26:09we have a report, India Today.
26:13Okay, let's just get a quick update from Aniga on this.
26:16Aniga, is in fact the Tamil Nadu government now going to seek answers from Karnataka
26:21on what exactly happened with these post-mortem details now coming out?
26:29Yeah, the Tamil Nadu government here has sought answers from the Karnataka government
26:34as to the post-mortem report that India Today has been able to access.
26:38It is very clearly mentioned in the post-mortem report
26:41that the three poachers were brutally tortured before being murdered.
26:45And therefore, the Tamil Nadu government here have sought answers from the Karnataka government
26:50as to why is it that these three poachers were being brutally tortured?
26:54What was the reason?
26:55If it is just a case of open firing,
26:57then what was the need for this kind of brutal torture is what they have questioned.
27:01Udenindi has also demanded for financial compensation to the families of those victims,
27:06given the fact that the heel from Tamil Nadu makes them one of us.
27:09So therefore, we need to make sure that their families are adequately compensated
27:14and make sure that we really find out the reason as to why they were so brutally tortured
27:18and why they were killed in the first place.
27:20So this is going to be the stance of Tamil Nadu government
27:23demanding answers from the Karnataka government.
27:29One of the questions that the DMK constantly raises is those pictures of Chief Minister Vijay
27:35with Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar from a couple of days ago
27:38during the Southern Zonal Conference in which the two leaders were seen meeting.
27:43And the DMK is raising this question of whether Kaveri,
27:46whether the killing of these three Tamilians was brought up by Chief Minister Vijay or not.
27:51Thanks very much, Anagar, for getting us those details.
27:53Let's cut across to breaking news coming in.
28:02Actor Dachran, who's behind bars in the killing of the Radhika Swami murder in the case,
28:08now has faced a serious setback because one of the accused has now turned approver in this particular case.
28:16The details that are emerging right now in this particular case is that the court has given the nod for
28:21Prados,
28:21who is one of the accused, who is reportedly one of the people who was there when Renuka Swami was
28:27killed,
28:28has now turned approver.
28:29The court has given approval for the same, along with a series of conditions that they've listed out,
28:34including that the man here will remain behind bars till brought up, till he gives all details.
28:40He's been asked to be completely transparent and give all the details that he knows of the crime that took
28:46place.
28:46Why is this a huge setback for Dachran?
28:48Because it means that the mountain of evidence really piles up against him.
28:52That you have someone who allegedly saw the crime firsthand, now turning approver,
28:57now cooperating with the authorities and will give them that much more details.
29:01It will also give that much more credence to, in fact, the police evidence that they have against Dachran.
29:08So it's not the best news for the actor who's been fighting this particular case.
29:11And even as we get you all of the details that are coming in right now in this particular case,
29:17with, in fact, Prados, who is known to be a close aide of Dachran turning approver,
29:22the question also will come up is whether other accused also will turn approver.
29:27Dachran is A1, but there are a number of his aides who are also allegedly involved in the crime,
29:33who also at this point are behind bars.
29:36So if they, too, cooperate with the police, it will be endgame, essentially, for Dachran.
29:42Remember, this was to do with the brutal killing of, in fact, Dachran's fan, Renika Swamy.
29:48Dachran and his aides beat him up, tortured him to death.
29:53And since the arrest of the actor, more and more evidence has emerged of the brutality
29:58and the horror that Renika Swamy had to undergo at the hands of Dachran.
30:05So this is, in fact, a big update that's come in on that particular story,
30:09with clearly actor Dachran facing now this setback.
30:12Sagai Raj is joining us live with more details on this.
30:15Sagai, give us a sense, really, of who Prados is.
30:18Why is he crucial to this case?
30:20What is his alleged role in the murder as per the police?
30:25Prados is the one who has organized the funds close to 15 lakh rupees
30:30to find out the people who can take the blame of the murdering Renika Swamy.
30:37So Dachran had approached Prados for organizing money.
30:40He is the person who had gave money.
30:41But he says that he was being forced to give because Dachran have threatened him,
30:47saying that if he doesn't give money, he will shoot himself.
30:49And Prados also claims that when Renika Swamy was being assaulted,
30:54he is the one who incised Dachran and requested not to attack him
30:58and assault him in that manner.
31:01And Prados now turned out to be approver,
31:04and it is going to be a major setback for Dachran.
31:07Not because Prados alone, Akshita, along with Prados,
31:11there are other two people, two Akshivars who have been involved in this murder,
31:15have also filed a petition to turn out to be an approver.
31:20Let's see.
31:26I think we're having a bit of a problem with Sagai's connection,
31:29but that's an important update that he also gave us,
31:31that it isn't just Prados,
31:33but two other accused who also filed a petition saying,
31:35let us turn approver, we'll cooperate with the police investigation,
31:38which means it's bad, bad news for Dachran.
31:40Because all of these people, then, from an accused to an approver,
31:44which means the case becomes that much stronger against Dachran.
31:47Thanks, Sagai, for joining us with all of those details.
31:50Let's get you some of the big national talking points of the day.
31:53Dera Sacha Sada, Chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem,
31:56is out on furlough once again, convicted for rape, convicted for murder.
32:01He is now out on furlough for the 17th time,
32:05and again a break of 21 days.
32:07He essentially walks into jail when he wants, walks out of jail when he wants.
32:12And so, clearly, his conviction, his sentencing,
32:15and his time in jail is a big, big sham.
32:1821 days now, he's going to be out on furlough.
32:21Once again, the same images from outside the prison,
32:24in this massive convoy, Ram Raheem stepped out in great style.
32:58Anwar Raheem had a big time.

33:13What a man who thinks all the people are using, who are the government, is the same as their government.
33:19Both of them feel that there is not even impact.
33:22The person who can't get votes can't get votes, the person who can't be able to throw in the middle.
33:28So, they can't throw in the both systems.
33:31They can't throw in the middle and throw in the middle.
33:33So, under this banner of democracy, this is a pure dictatorship.
33:38issue. Okay, so let me bring in right now Asim Basi for more details on this. Asim, every
33:44festival, every, you know, occasion for him to celebrate, Ram Rahim is out. He's out of
33:51jail. So clearly all the necessary formalities, all the necessary approvals, all of it comes
33:56from a snap of a finger whenever he wants to step out of jail. And then this whole term
34:00of furlough is mentioned. 17th time that he's out and this time for 21 days. What's the
34:06reason? What's the excuse given this time, Asim? Oh, well, yes, definitely. Every time
34:14he comes out on parole or furlough, it becomes, it has become a regular affair now and there
34:19are sharp political reactions. This time it's a furlough, 21 day furlough. He came out of
34:23jail, scenario jail around 6, 6, 6, 5 a.m. and went to his headquarters. No specific reason
34:30is mentioned. Furloughs are given for good behavior in the jail. Although parole carries
34:34a specific reason or emergencies to come out. This time it's a furlough. And ever since
34:40he has come out today, it's been sharp political reactions all over. Even the Akal Tak Saab
34:44Jathidar, Gyanik Kuldeep Singh Gargaj has said that how can such a person be given regular
34:50paroles? And it is a partisan attitude. The Bandi Singhs, the Sikh prisoners, they are demanding
34:54paroles, but they are not given. And every time Ram Rahim is given parole, even the Amadi
34:59Party in Punjab, even the Congress, various sections, they have objected to it. But definitely
35:04it's definitely every time he comes out, it raises eyebrows at how things work. We questioned
35:10the jail minister of Haryana, Arvind Sharma, and he said that the rules are followed, the guidelines
35:15are followed. And this becomes a talking point because this is a bigger issue and everybody gets
35:20a parole or a furlough. So this is the kind of reply Haryana government gives. But definitely
35:24whenever he comes out, it becomes a talking point. And now this time also, sharp political
35:29reactions have been witnessed.
35:34It's difficult to defend, honestly, Aseem, because the only question that will come up
35:38is whether every other prisoner gets furlough every few months for 20 days, for 30 days,
35:43for 40 days, 17th furlough. I'm just struggling to wrap my head around those numbers, because
35:47if you look at it, 17th furlough, and each time if he gets, let's say, about 20 days, which
35:52is a rough minimum estimate, that means that he's hardly even serving a jail sentence. And
35:57yet none of those questions, every time he's out, questions are asked. Every time he's out,
36:03this criticism, none of it is affected. The authorities that continue to give the nod
36:07for his furlough, for him to step out in this manner. At some point, maybe the court will
36:13choose to step in. Thanks, Aseem, for joining us with those details.
36:16We've all complained about the garbage crisis in our cities. But unfortunately, even in places
36:22like Kashmir, it's turning into an environmental hazard. Our ground reports from Srinagar has
36:28prompted a wave of reactions on social media, rightly so. Those reactions has prompted again
36:34the Kashmir government to take note of, in fact, this massive wasteland that's lying in Srinagar.
36:40It's seeping into the lakes, it's polluting the lakes of Srinagar. This is a report filed
36:46by Mir Farid for India Today, which has now led to authorities also assuring that they will
36:51crack the wind.
36:55Behind me, what you're seeing is not an ordinary mountain. This is unique because it's a mountain
37:01of garbage, of untreated waste in the heart of Srinagar city. An ecological disaster in many
37:08ways. But this is the only dumping site that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation has. And from
37:131986, if the official records are to be believed, the National Green Tribunal team was here. And
37:19they were told by the local government that around 11 lakh metric tons of waste is already
37:26here. And that's why you can see these mountains of garbage. And as you come here, two kilometer
37:32radius is filled with stink. And even if you're blindfolded, you come to this area, you'll come
37:40to know that you have reached Achan. And that is really the tragedy of the times where everywhere
37:45in the world, you have sewage treatment, you have these civic issues treated in the most scientific
37:51manner. And here, all that is missing.
37:54Srinagar, because it's a paradise, so on the other side of it, people are very frustrated.
37:59So in one year, you'll get a visible change in the Achan dump site. And you'll get a
38:04garbage from far away. And you'll get a garbage from far away. And you'll get a leachet,
38:08and you'll get a leachet, and you'll get a relief from it. And the second is our construction
38:13and demolition waste, which is running there. That is a separate project altogether. We've
38:17almost completed that project. So I think that in the next two months, we should be on the
38:21verge of inaugurating that project. So whatever the city's construction and demolition waste
38:25is going to be in the next two months. And the third is the fresh waste. And the third
38:30is the fresh waste, which is what we will do. Already the government has approved a new
38:34project. That is the Integrated Solid Waste Management Program. And currently, the
38:39tendering and the rest of the stages are going on. Once it is allotted, we are doing it
38:42on PPP. And it will continue to live for 25 years. So whatever the company has come,
38:50or whatever the company has come, will establish it on there. And then it will run for 25 years
38:54and its capacity is much higher than the waste that is dumped at the dump site right now.
39:10With Yash Starrer Toxical set to release tomorrow, there's been a huge win for the makers who
39:16approached the Karnataka court seeking protection from defintory content being put out on social media,
39:23on YouTube and the likes. The court has gone ahead and granted that protection to the makers.
39:29According to the filmmakers, there was a lot of, in fact, defintory content that was being put out on social
39:35media
39:36against the film. And it was to crack down on the same that they approached the courts as well for
39:42protection.
39:43That protection has now been granted. So with the film set to release over the next many days,
39:49expect, of course, that all of the narratives that you've been seeing about the film,
39:53even before its release, that will be cracked down upon. So we could be seeing several videos
39:59that were critical of the film being pulled down at this point.
40:03Now, according to the makers, they've constantly maintained that this was an attempt
40:07to build a negative narrative against the film. And that's why they have approached the courts.
40:11The court has now granted them the protection that they sought.
40:16I am, however, leaving you with a small video about the beautiful festival of Onam.
40:22That's right. Tomorrow is Onam. And as a half Malayali myself, I'm going to be here in Bengaluru.
40:28Won't have time for an Onam sadhya. My wishes to all of you, Onash and Sagal.
40:34And remember to celebrate Onam with us here in India today by watching the Karnataka Roundtable.
40:39Thanks very much for tuning in.
40:45So long, long time back, there was a king, an Asura king called King Mahabali.
40:51He was hugely loved in his kingdom because anything his Praja wanted, he would give to them.
40:56Anything they asked for, he would ensure their wish was granted.
40:59So they were extremely happy in his kingdom. The overlords saw this, were extremely jealous and said,
41:05we need to do something about King Mahabali. And that's when Lord Vishnu decided to step in.
41:11He took on the form of the Dwarf Brahmin of Vamana and met with King Mahabali.
41:16And he had one appeal. He portrayed himself as a poor Dwarf, went up to King Mahabali and said,
41:22can you please give me some land? How much land? King Mahabali asked him.
41:26He said, three steps, three of my steps, that much land if you can give it to me.
41:32Now King Mahabali said, what's wrong with that? Sure, I'll go ahead.
41:36In fact, his ministers advised him not to do so.
41:39But King Mahabali, being the generous soul that he was known to be, said, I will do it.
41:43And said, he will give the land to Vamana.
41:46And that's when Lord Vishnu didn't take up just his real avatar, but became much, much bigger.
41:51His first step was the entire planet Earth. His second step was the universe.
41:58And just as he was about to take his third step, King Mahabali said, don't do it.
42:02Don't step on anything. Step on my head himself.
42:05And thereby he offered himself to Vamana.
42:08King Mahabali was then sent to Patalok.
42:11But Lord Vishnu was very, very impressed by King Mahabali.
42:14By how much he cared for his Praja and all that he did to take care of his people.
42:19So when he asked King Mahabali, name one thing you want, one wish.
42:24King Mahabali said, I want to be able to visit my people.
42:27And for once a year, he's allowed to come and visit his people.
42:32That day is called Onam.
42:35And it is in preparation to welcome our favourite king, King Mahabali,
42:39that you see people gathering in large numbers and celebrating Onam even today.
42:44I think when we talk about Onam, we also need to be talking about
42:47all the memories we have with this beautiful festival.
42:50For so many of us Malayalis who celebrate Onam,
42:53it's a day filled with happy, happy memories.
42:56I remember mine personally to be one from just a couple of years ago.
43:00It was a pandemic Onam at home here in Delhi.
43:03And my sister from the United States flew down.
43:07And we made this beautiful Pukalam along with my husband inside home
43:11with great difficulty got flowers.
43:12So that's a very memorable Onam for me.
43:15So we all as Malayalis come together to celebrate Onam.
43:18It doesn't matter if someone's Hindu, Christian, Muslim or any other faith.
43:23Onam is a cultural celebration of the traditions of Kerala.
43:27And what you'll see if you visit Kerala at this time of the year
43:30is a lot of colourful competitions.
43:33You'll see Pukalams, flower arrangements all around.
43:35And of course who can forget the delicious food.
43:38The sadhyas that's become a part and parcel of Onam.
43:42So this year join us as we come together to celebrate Onam festivities across the country.
43:48I love you.
43:49I love you.
43:50I love you.
43:50I love you.
43:51I love you.
43:51I love you.
