00:01Sophie Cunningham has become one of the most outspoken figures in the debate
00:05surrounding transgender athletes in women's basketball and she says the
00:09backlash isn't changing who she is. The Fever star explained that trying to
00:14satisfy everyone is impossible saying she's 100% okay and happy and at peace
00:19with who she is. I do and I'm 100% okay and happy and at peace with who I am
00:26there's always growth and you can always be better but I do think that that's
00:30something America can get better at is maybe not always agree with people but
00:33also just showing peace and love it's okay to disagree. She acknowledged there's
00:37always room to grow and become better but made it clear she's comfortable
00:41speaking her mind even when it brings criticism. Her comments come as the WNBA
00:46finds itself at the center of an increasingly heated national debate over
00:51transgender eligibility in women's sports. Commissioner Kathy Engelbert has
00:55called the issue complex and said the league will continue discussions with
00:59players and team leaders. For Cunningham though the message is simple she's
01:04comfortable being herself regardless of what people think.
