Bharatiya Janata Party leader Smriti Irani launched a counterattack against Rahul Gandhi over the escalating Vande Mataram controversy and his Manusmriti remarks. Irani flagged the muting of stanzas related to Goddess Durga at the Congress headquarters during Independence Day events. She questioned why Congress leaders skipped paragraphs praising Goddess Durga while claiming to support women's empowerment. The BJP alleged that skipping these stanzas reveals the true character of the Congress party, noting that Parliament approved all six stanzas of Vande Mataram. Irani also addressed remarks made during Rahul Gandhi's Chhatro Ki Goonj event, accusing him of invoking religion while ignoring key religious stanzas.

00:00Breaking news coming in. That was not all that Smriti Irani has come out to address.
00:05She's also spoken about another controversy that has now been escalating with each passing day,
00:11which is the big Vande Mataram Rao that's again brought back.
00:16It's been reignited because Smriti Irani now has joined the tirade and come out to say and flag
00:22muted lines of Vande Mataram at the Congress headquarters.
00:26She comes out to remind Vande's tanzas on Durga. Rahul invokes religion, forgot Durga.
00:32Smriti mocks Rahul's Manu Smriti jibe and dares Rahul sing the full Vande Mataram first.
00:39Goddess Durga is an embodiment of Shakti.
00:42So this is almost like linking one, making one issue contextual to the other here.
00:48Let's listen in first to what Smriti Irani has come out to say on the Vande Mataram Rao
00:52while locking horns with the Gandhis at this given point.

01:54Two main controversies that's taken over.
01:58The national political arena at this given point with the BJP and the Congress escalating their jibes against each other
02:06with each passing day.
02:07One happens to be the Vande Mataram Rao which in fact saw its trigger point take place on Independence Day
02:13itself at the Congress headquarters.
02:15This is what Smriti Rani has in fact referenced to and addressed with these very remarks.
02:21But she's not just stuck to that, she's also taken it up to bring into its fold another controversy that's
02:28now come up since yesterday evening which was from the Chhatro Ki Goonj event that was hosted by Rahul Gandhi.
02:34And the mention of Manu Smriti was made which the details of which we were just taking you through a
02:40little while back.
02:41And Smriti Rani has come out to basically launch a counter attack at Rahul Gandhi point by point taking up
02:50each of the matters one by one.
02:51Now, Aishwarya Paliwal is back with us on the broadcast.
02:54Aishwarya, when we speak of the Vande Mataram Rao, of course we've seen several escalations, comments, counter comments being made
03:01from either sides.
03:02Here, Smriti Rani has come out to dare Rahul Gandhi that on one hand you're speaking of women empowerment,
03:09but you refuse to sing certain stanzas which are with regards to Goddess Durga, who is an embodiment of shrakti
03:16in the Hindu religion.
03:18So, there's a lot that's been addressed by her in context to each other.
03:22Take us through what you make of it.
03:25Well, you know, Smriti Rani, one of the five-year speakers of the Bati Gantapati has, has often been seen,
03:31you know, taking on Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family at large.
03:35And now, with regards to the entire controversy that we are seeing, also, you know, it was Sonia Gandhi,
03:40who after the two stanzas asked everyone to stop, there was mayhem, there was confusion within the Congress party.
03:46The PGP is now saying that this is the two phase of the Congress party, this is the two character
03:51of the Congress party.
03:52Now, Wande Mataram, the six stanzas to be sung is something which has been cleared by the Parliament of our
03:57country.
03:58Then why is it that it is the Congress party which is not agreeing for that?
04:02You have been speaking about women. This is what Smriti Rani in her Dare to Rahul Gandhi said.
04:07But there are paragraphs, there are stanzas that actually speak about different gods in India.
04:14And they are the ones that are included in all the six stanzas, but you are the one who's not
04:19willing to do that.
04:20She also said that she's aware that remarks regarding Hindu religion were made at the Congress leader's events.
04:25He's evoked religion.
04:26What one needs to see is that there is Goddess Durga.
04:29And about Goddess Durga, there are lines in Wande Mataram, but the Congress party is refusing to speak about those.
04:36Right, right, Aishwarya.
04:37Thank you for bringing us all of those details with regards to this very story.
04:41Of course, both debates raging on.
04:44And we will keep a very close look as to what comes in from either side as the day progresses.
