Mojang developers reveal that if Minecraft were made today, the iconic Creeper wouldn't be included. Find out why its destructive nature is now considered too 'controversial' according to the game's current design philosophy.

00:00If I were to ask you who is the main mascot in Minecraft, would you say Steve or a Creeper?
00:05I'm betting it's a Creeper, but despite its popularity, Jens Bergenstein, the CEO of Mojang,
00:11reckons the Creeper goes against modern Minecraft standards and wouldn't be added in the game today.
00:17He said, if you were to follow the rules that we have today, we probably would not add the Creeper
00:22because it would actually be so controversial to have a monster that would show up and destroy what you built.
00:29But Minecraft wouldn't be the same without the unpredictable risk factor they bring.
00:34Although annoying and occasionally scary, Creepers keep you on your toes while constructing and gathering resources.
00:40I'd argue they're crucial to Minecraft's overall popularity,
00:43both as a slightly cooler face of the brand than Steve, no offense pal, and as an engine for calamity.
00:50What do you think?
