00:00From Toronto, Ontario, Canada, WWE Hall of Famer, Trish Stratus!
00:13From way up top, oh my goodness, that's a super stratus faction!
00:19So impressive. That is World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer.
00:25Toronto's very own Trish Stratus, celebrating her 25th anniversary as a professional wrestler
00:30at last year's Elimination Chamber in her hometown.
00:34My body just hurts looking at these moves.
00:36Okay, Trish is also a fitness icon, actress, entrepreneur.
00:40Tonight, ahead of WWE's Smackdown in Toronto, Trish will be hosting First Crush Live,
00:45an intimate conversation about her career.
00:48This is happening at Second City.
00:50The event will also include a Trish Tree Museum.
00:53Evermore, Trish, it joins us now. Welcome!
00:57Thank you!
00:58Oh my gosh!
00:58You gotta like the dad jokes, right?
01:00Oh, it's okay. I love it.
01:01I got plans all day long.
01:02Oh, gosh, where's Jeff?
01:05He's a fun master?
01:07Oh, he loves his dad jokes.
01:08Okay.
01:10Congrats on everything.
01:11And it's so well-deserved.
01:12I mean, your legacy speaks for itself.
01:15I mean, the fact you changed the face of wrestling a quarter century ago,
01:20you change it for women. Women in wrestling, you gotta be proud of that legacy.
01:24Yeah. I mean, it's hard to say that, like, yes, we did.
01:26But, like, sometimes you have to take ownership.
01:29Yeah.
01:29You know what I like to say?
01:30The girls of my generation, we, like, built a nice, solid foundation.
01:34And the girls of today built this giant skyscraper.
01:36You know what I mean?
01:37So, like, they've done, they're doing things now that, like, we would have only dreamed of.
01:41And actually, the great thing, I love that I got to go back and actually dip my toes into the
01:46current waters.
01:47And, like, I know it sounds really crazy, but, like, to say I went back and had a cage match.
01:52We weren't allowed to have cage matches back then.
01:54There was no girls.
01:55No girls.
01:55There was no way you'd have a cage match if you were a girl back in the day.
01:58So the fact that I got to go back and sort of just, like, you know, be with the modern
02:01girls
02:01and, like, have a generational face-off and do things that would have never been a possibility for us back
02:05in the day.
02:06Very, very cool.
02:07And I just can't believe your body contorts in such ways.
02:09Like, I'm watching, I'm, like, my jaw is, like, on the floor because I'm just, like, ow!
02:15Well, also, you know what's funny is, like, so I always get asked, like, or, you know, up-and-coming
02:18wrestlers,
02:19you know, they're, like, what is the one piece of a device you give?
02:21And, you know, I would get really deep and say, you know, stay true to yourself, be authentic,
02:25the crowd will resonate with you.
02:26And then I, now I'm, like, do yoga.
02:29That's my message.
02:30If you want to wrestle for a long time, do yoga.
02:32I'm telling you, that is the message.
02:34Okay, I'm going to listen to that.
02:35You know, right off the top, of course, we talked about all the, your incredible career as a wrestler,
02:39but then fitness icon, actress, entrepreneur.
02:44How did you transition from the ring to these other projects and then do them so well?
02:50I don't know.
02:51You know, I mean, I'm kind of an all-or-nothing gal.
02:53I'm, like, if I'm in it, I'm in it.
02:54I also feel like there's a thing about, like, you know, so my modern life is preparedness meets opportunity.
02:59Okay.
02:59And I was taught that very early on when I, you know, fitness modeling was, like, a very new industry.
03:03It wasn't really, hadn't really broken out yet.
03:05And I just kind of came on the cusp of it.
03:07And then I, you know, saw the opportunity, I guess, to become this new thing.
03:10Because it used to be sort of, like, men's bodybuilding, women's bodybuilding.
03:13But there was a missing little gap there.
03:15So, and the same with wrestling, right?
03:17It was, like, I think we, as women, we were given a spot.
03:20But we were, like, we knew we could do more.
03:22And it was just about fighting for your space and finding your voice.
03:26And I just, I got lucky that the people around us supported us.
03:29And, you know, gave us those chances to actually get out there.
03:31And, okay, let's give them a shot and things like that, you know?
03:33So, I mean, yeah, I think it's, like, a matter of, like, preparedness meets opportunity.
03:37So, if I went into, I got an acting opportunity because of, say, my wrestling.
03:40But, like, let's approach it as a serious actor and take the coaching and things like that.
03:44So, it's helped.
03:46Yeah, for sure.
03:46And I also don't sleep much.
03:48That's the key right there.
03:50Yoga and no sleep.
03:51Meditation, though.
03:53So, tonight you'll be hosting an event called First Crush Live,
03:57where you will be sharing some behind-the-scenes stories.
04:00Now, for many wrestling fans, you were their first crush.
04:03It's like this.
04:04You know that, right?
04:04It's so cute.
04:05I would get it all the time.
04:06People were like, oh, you're my first crush.
04:08And then, last year I was on SmackDown, and I was like, I'm going to be a little cheeky.
04:11And I was like, your first crush.
04:12I made a statement, and it went viral.
04:14Like, people were like, yeah, you know, you were for real my first crush.
04:17So, we went with it.
04:17So, we did the First Crush tour.
04:19And, like, so I go and I meet all my fans.
04:21And so, the First Crush Live, it's just really special because Toronto is home.
04:25And I hadn't been here in a while.
04:26And, you know, my fans would be like, you're doing your tour, but we don't see you in Toronto.
04:29So, the fact that I could come here home and, like, present this to them and just have this intimate
04:34moment with my fans and, like, bring the Tristory Museum, it's really special.
04:39I feel blessed.
04:39Okay.
04:39So, we've got to talk about this memorabilia here because you're going to show this at the event, but you're
04:43exclusively showing us this morning.
04:45Let's talk about the costumes.
04:47Costumes.
04:48Costumes.
04:48I know.
04:49Like, come on.
04:49Yeah.
04:50So, Canadian.
04:51Love it.
04:52It is.
04:52Because it was, like, the opportunity to be, like, okay, so, like, 25 years, we're celebrating the legacy, but to
04:57be here in Toronto and at the, I want to say Sky Dome, but that's because we're old school, right?
05:03So, I was able to celebrate the legacy.
05:05I was, like, these are some of my logos that I wore over the years.
05:08And it was just, like, you know, the Toronto colors, the blue and the white.
05:11It was really special.
05:12And then she, yeah, it was a look that really stuck because everyone kept their merchandise.
05:17How can they not?
05:17I mean.
05:18And then we got a couple belts.
05:19Yes.
05:20Well, this is, this is my baby here.
05:22The Women's Championship.
05:22We fought very hard to, you know, just to make her prominent and make the division itself be a viable
05:28part of the show entirely.
05:30And then this was very special.
05:31So, it's kind of weird when I'm, like, oh, yeah, when you said quarter of the century, like, that's a
05:35long time.
05:35That's a long time.
05:38But I'm proud of it.
05:39Like, I'm proud of every single year and all the progress we've made.
05:42And so, I look back at what the women.
05:44And so, this is, you know, WB came to me and they wanted, it was Fanatics, actually.
05:47And they created this belt.
05:48They came to me.
05:49I helped design it.
05:50And, you know, there's, like, I like you look in the back.
05:51There's a little Canadian, a little subtle Canadian-ness to it, you know, just because it is who I am.
05:57You know, people know me as, like, the Canadian gal.
05:59So, it's very special.
06:01Yeah.
06:01All right.
06:02Well, Trish Stratus, First Crush Question & Answer Live event takes place today at Second City.
06:07Toronto.
06:07And that's where you can also catch her, Trish Tree Museum, ahead of WWE SmackDown.
06:12That's all taking place tonight.
06:13Ticket information is on your screen.
06:15Trish, always a pleasure.
06:17Thank you, guys.
06:17I appreciate it.
