00:00I had to go to therapy because nonstop, could I think about this moment of me slipping and landing on
00:08a steel post and feeling just that crack and that moment of being like, wait, wait, I felt pain before,
00:17but what is this?
00:18Can I stand? Can I walk? Can I finish this match?
00:21I slid right in. I tried to finish this match and Willow took advantage.
00:28She saw that I was hurt.
00:31So let's go straight into it with all in.
00:34You'll be back in London and you'll be back facing Willow Nightingale.
00:38And it feels very personal this time, a lot more personal than previously.
00:42What are your thoughts going into this match?
00:44I feel like I've been ready for this match and this feeling in this moment ever since I met Willow
00:52in New Japan.
00:55You know, when I met her, when I wrestled her, I suffered a career, almost a career ending injury and
01:04wrestling is my whole life.
01:08So ever since I met her, she has just always been at the other end of everything magical in my
01:17career.
01:18Ever since I chose to make a decision and try something new and to go forward in my life and
01:25to believe in me, trust in me.
01:27She has always been there right in front of me and not just right in front of me, smiling at
01:35me, disrespecting me.
01:37You know, there would not be no Willow Nightingale.
01:41Nobody would be talking about her if it wasn't for Mercedes money.
01:44So walking into this match, walking into Wembley, going after not just her title, but her stupid ass smile.
01:53It feels, yeah, definitely personal.
01:56You said earlier this week in your magazine that you'd had therapy to kind of process what happened and not
02:02blame her.
02:03If you feel comfortable talking about it, can you kind of expand on what happened, how long that process took
02:07and what you learned from it?
02:08Don't think going to therapy is making you crazy or there's something wrong with you.
02:13It's actually something very beautiful.
02:15So going to therapy can release so many things.
02:18And for me, I had to go to therapy because nonstop, could I think about this moment of me slipping
02:25and landing on a still post and feeling just that crack.
02:31And that moment of being like, wait, wait, I felt pain before, but what is this?
02:37Can I stand?
02:38Can I walk?
02:38Can I finish this match?
02:39I slid right in.
02:41I tried to finish this match and Willow took advantage.
02:46She saw that I was hurt.
02:49Not only did she see I was hurt, but she stood over me after she pinned me and smiled at
02:57me.
02:58Me, the greatest women's wrestler of all time, the woman that really pushed this era forward, the woman that made
03:06people believe that they can be women's wrestlers.
03:08She was smiling at me.
03:10Then I chose AEW.
03:12And who was there to greet me?
03:15Her dumb ass.
03:18I wanted those tag team titles.
03:20You know, I'm the greatest tag team wrestler of all time.
03:24Who was there to beat me?
03:26Dumb ass Willow.
03:28Not only beat me, smiling at me.
03:32Then I was on the run of my life.
03:3613 belts for me.
03:37The greatest TBS champion this company has ever seen.
03:40Have you ever seen a greater champion?
03:42No, you have not.
03:44Not only did she disrespect me, she threw cake in my face and brought her stupid little fans to dance
03:52all over me.
03:54And smile at me.
03:56To me.
03:58Mercedes-Benz Mane that has been in the game for 16 years.
04:02That is a slap in the face.
04:04Come on.
04:07How would that make you feel?
04:08I mean, you seem angry.
04:10Understandably.
04:11And now you're going in for the biggest challenge with the AEW.
04:14I'm not angry.
04:15I went to therapy.
04:17I'm good.
04:18Okay.
04:19I mean, now you're going against her for the one tag you've not had.
04:23Which adds another layer to this very long and storied rivalry.
04:30What's that pressure?
04:31Or is that even pressure for you?
04:33Or is this just another day at the office for you?
04:36Have you ever been the best at something in your life?
04:40Have you ever been the greatest at something?
04:43Do you think that comes with pressure?
04:46Have you led a generation of women's wrestling?
04:51Have you?
04:52Yeah, that's a lot of pressure.
04:55Yeah, this one's different.
04:57Because this is a championship that I have been destined to win ever since I've got here.
05:01Every time I go after this title, what happens?
05:06Not only do I want that title, I want her stupid smile too.
05:12So now I want two things.
05:14And when there's more things on the line, I get even more excited.
05:19So no, it's not another day in the office.
05:22Yes, there's pressure.
05:25But I was born for this.
05:28I stay ready.
05:29And I am going to win the AEW Women's World Champion.
05:32Doing it at Wembley, what does that mean to you?
05:36Because that's the biggest venue that AEW do.
05:39And one of the biggest in the world.
05:41Yeah, and I've done it before.
05:43You think it's something different?
05:46You think I just love the UK?
05:50I've wrestled in the greatest, grandest arenas of all, all over the world.
05:55So no, this is, it's nothing different for me going in there a second time.
06:00But winning this time, leaving with the championship that I'm destined to win, that's the feeling that I want.
06:09That's the moment that I've been waiting for.
06:12Because these fans have been waiting for this too.
06:16So I can't wait.
06:17I'm thinking about my hair.
06:18And I'm thinking about how many teeth of willows should I pull out so she can never smile again?
06:25Huh?
06:28Are you going to keep them as like a trophy necklace?
06:32Ew, no, I am not the Tooth Fairy.
06:34Fair enough.
06:36So a lot of fans want this as main event.
06:38They want this to actually top the whole card.
06:41Does it matter to you?
06:42Are you just going to tear the house down wherever it comes?
06:44I always do.
06:46Because I always have to.
06:48I'm always the main event no matter where you put me.
06:53But yeah, it's about damn time.
06:55And I close out the show.
06:57So they're not wrong.
06:59And we'll see.
07:01August 30th.
07:02When you're in the UK, what's something you kind of look forward to doing when you're not, you know, focusing
07:09on this much?
07:10And, you know, what downtime do you want to do in the UK?
07:12I always like going to my favorite steakhouse.
07:14I think it's called Flat Iron Steak.
07:16But I don't know.
07:17I feel like I've been to a lot of the touristy sites already.
07:21I don't know if there's any secret hidden places that I should go explore.
07:25Have you been to Camden?
07:27There's like really cool markets in Camden.
07:29I've been there.
07:30Of course.
07:31So I don't know.
07:31I'm just ready to legit be all in and be so focused.
07:37I leave this Monday and we go to Scotland and I go back to London and I'm just going to
07:43prepare.
07:44I don't really want to go out and about.
07:46I don't want fans bothering me.
07:48Please don't.
07:50Don't stalk me.
07:51Please don't go to my hotel.
07:52I just want to be in the zone and I just want to be so ready for all in.
07:57Away from all in, you said in Mone Mag that you have been betting on yourself and trusting yourself a
08:02lot more.
08:03Given where you were, given which company you were in before and how that ended, what's it like having that
08:09freedom to basically do things your way?
08:11And prove everyone, well, prove everyone right.
08:14Because a lot of people knew that this is kind of what you could do.
08:17Oh, thanks.
08:18It's been amazing.
08:19It's been so rewarding for me and just kind of freeing.
08:25I've always wanted that feeling of feeling free.
08:30And I feel like this has been the best I've ever been able to perform because I have that capability
08:36and that ability to have that freedom of just, you know, whether that's putting matches together and performing differently or
08:45having a different mindset or not having people tell you no.
08:49Or being scared to tell something and then you will be told no.
08:52It's just a freedom.
08:54And I'm very happy to be here.
08:57And I hope that shows in my work.
08:59But yeah, I just I think it shows in my matches how free I feel and how great I feel
09:04in AEW.
09:05Kind of feels like the AEW women's locker room is very much of a team.
09:08Like there's no real, you know, behind the scenes rivalries.
09:12You're all trying to benefit like and push each other.
09:16But like as in you're trying to push each other to that next level.
09:19Like, is that what it's actually like?
09:20Because that's how it comes across on screen.
09:22I feel like anytime I'm in the ring with one of them, they push me because they always bring something
09:27so different and a fire that I'm like, all right, I can't slow down.
09:31And I can't hold back because they want this and they train to be the best.
09:35And I feel like we have the best women's division ever.
09:38Like I love stepping into the ring with all of them and all of them can just throw down and
09:43just want to throw down and be the best.
09:45You know, we are not the, we're the best wrestler for no reason.
09:49Like the women are the best wrestlers here too.
09:52And they want to have the same opportunity as the men.
09:56So, you know, it feels, it feels like nothing different, but it feels like we're pushing each other to be
10:02the best.
10:03You've been doing this for like 16 years now.
10:05Crazy.
10:06What's, what's the biggest thing you've learned about yourself during that kind of journey?
10:09That is so hard because there's just so many different areas of being in wrestling and learning and growing.
10:16I feel like I'm never going to stop learning and growing.
10:19I feel like that's the main thing is not being content and not being like, I know everything.
10:26I don't know everything and I still want to learn.
10:29And we have so many people that I get to learn from.
10:31Um, so it's still, for me, it's just wanting to learn and wanting to grow and wanting to be better
10:37and not being like, okay, I'm the best woman's wrestler.
10:40Now what?
10:41No, I'm the best woman's wrestler.
10:42And I still have to prove that every single day because these women are coming after me and coming into
10:49this business every single day that I have to be like, I got to not only keep up.
10:54I got to, I got to stay here.
10:56They're the, they're growing.
10:57They're being amazing.
10:58They're, they're becoming the blueprint, you know, the next, uh, generation, the next foundation upon the house has just been
11:06so incredible to see and be a part of that.
11:09Um, I don't know.
11:11I don't know.
11:12It's awesome.
11:13Are you kind of seen as, as the locker room vet within the women's locker room?
11:17And you know, you've got the four horse women title still.
11:20So it feels like they would probably come to you and put your brains quite a lot.
11:23I feel like a lot of people really don't, maybe, um, they get nervous.
11:29I don't know.
11:30Um, but I feel like also they have each other and there's a lot of people here that they can
11:34go to and they feel comfortable to go to with.
11:37Um, and I feel like I'm just more of a leader, um, you know, follow the leader and see what
11:42she does, see how she shows up, see how she brings it to the ring.
11:45You know, um, I'm really just a leader in this, um, woman's wrestling, this, this generation of, of leading, you
11:52know, the next generation.
11:53Leading the pack.
11:54It's, it's showing up and showing out.
11:56And the people that want to see what I do and see how I'm successful, they, they show up and
12:01show out and do the same thing.
12:02They go, okay, I see how she's doing that.
12:05I gotta, I gotta step my game up and do the same thing too.
12:08I gotta work my ass off.
12:09I gotta look like a superstar and I gotta be the absolute best.
12:12So, um, just follow the leader girls.
12:15Is that the one piece of advice you would give to the women's locker room then?
12:18It's not the one piece of advice.
12:20There's, there's so much advice that I would give to the women's locker room.
12:24I just, I would say, do not stop fighting.
12:28Keep on pushing.
12:28Come on.
12:29Something else that you put in my name.
12:30I apparently I've read quite a lot of it.
12:32Thank you for subscribing.
12:34You dropped a little nugget in there.
12:35Um, saying you went to see one of Bailey's matches at WrestleMania in disguise, which much, what was that like
12:42just being in the crowd completely?
12:44If I wanted to say which match I want to put it in my money, man, you know, everybody knows
12:49that Pam is my best friend in wrestling and there's been many matches that I've been to.
12:54And she's been to many of my matches to supporting me.
12:57And, uh, when you have people like that in your life, um, you show up for important things in there.
13:02So, um, I love being in disguise and hiding, um, and I'm always going to support her cause she's, she's
13:10the best.
13:11We wouldn't have this beautiful generational woman's wrestling if she wasn't part of it.
13:16And, um, you know, when you have people like that in this world, you got to support them.
13:20Everyone, I feel like everyone probably asked you this question, but I'm going to ask you anyway.
13:23Are we ever going to see you and her?
13:25I know, but we are going to see you and her lock up again at any point.
13:29You never know in wrestling.
13:30That's always, um, a dream match for me to, is to have another match with her.
13:34She is, uh, one of my greatest opponents of all time.
13:38Uh, of course, everybody knows our, one of our greatest matches together, Brooklyn, that's really changed, uh, the way people
13:45viewed women's wrestling.
13:47But yeah, it's always a dream match for me.
13:49It's always a dream match for me.
13:50So you never know.
13:51Last two questions to wrap up.
13:52Um, what's a myth or kind of misconception that the world seems to have about you that you'd like to
13:58set straight?
13:58There's nothing to be like, okay, guys, you know, there's, I don't have to fight every single day with you
14:06guys.
14:07There's no need.
14:08I am me.
14:09Easy.
14:10I am me.
14:11I don't have to be like, not true.
14:13You guys are going to do what you do every single week, every single day.
14:18Do it.
14:19I don't care.
14:20I don't care, but subscribe to money mag, um, Mercedes money.com.
14:25Last question.
14:26What does the future hold for you?
14:28The future holds with me being the AW women's world at champion.
14:32Um, and a lot more with women's wrestling.
14:37What else?
14:38What about outside the ring?
14:39It's hard to say outside of the ring because I love so much what I do inside of the ring.
14:45Um, because wrestling is my everything.
14:48So I have to always give it everything, especially if I want to be the women's champion of this company.
14:55So, um, my main focus is to, to do that and to lead, um, this, this division to a whole
15:03new impact, um, if I get to be their champion.
15:06So that is my main goal of what I want to do.
15:09Of course, there's things I want to do outside of here, but you guys don't need to know everything because
15:13again, you guys are annoying and you only talk about wrestling.
15:16So you should only know about wrestling.
15:18If I wanted to say outside things about other people, I would, I would do other interviews, but we are
15:22talking about wrestling and I love wrestling.
15:25So that's what I want to do.
