00:05Delighted for everybody.
00:07I'm hoping that sends a bit of a message out to the rest of the league
00:10and everybody watching that we're not just here to make the numbers up.
00:16We know it's going to be tough.
00:18We have a brilliant outfit today, obviously some brilliant players,
00:20but there's a good core in that dressing room with brilliant togetherness
00:25and brilliant resilience.
00:27I feel like if we can just stick to that, we'll go toe-to-toe with a lot of teams
00:33this year.
00:33When you woke up this morning, could you imagine that the day would go quite like that?
00:38I mean, to beat them at home, clean sheet,
00:41first time that this club has ever beat United in a Premier League game.
00:45It's some achievement, isn't it?
00:46Yeah, it doesn't get much better than that, to be honest.
00:50Obviously, I'm delighted.
00:51Like I said, I thought to a man everyone were absolutely brilliant today.
00:54The fans as well, the stadium was absolutely rocking,
00:57so a brilliant day for the football club.
01:00Obviously, I appreciate it.
01:02It's only one game, but something to take confidence from, enjoy it,
01:08and we keep cracking on.
01:10I was going to say, what can this do for you going forward?
01:13Because, you know, as well as anybody, everybody is really wrong.
01:16Everybody's said you're going to struggle to beat Derby's records at 11 points.
01:19You've got three in your first game against United.
01:22Surely, the confidence you'll get from this must be huge.
01:25Yeah, massive, and we'll take that forward.
01:28Of course, we know we've got a lot to work on.
01:32We know we're going to obviously fight.
01:34This year's going to be some tough games, and we know we're going to have to ride the storm at
01:37times,
01:38and we'll probably have setbacks, but it doesn't get much better than this.
01:42Obviously, like I've said, I feel like it's important to get off to a good start,
01:44and we have done, and yeah, we just keep building, and we keep cracking on.
01:49Particularly at home as well, I said to the Gaffer, the home form is so important,
01:53particularly in the Premier League community and other teams.
01:54To get that first W and your bow going, you know, when you look at the games you've got coming
01:59up as well,
02:00it's massive, isn't it?
02:01Yeah, huge, and like I said, everyone's been brilliant today.
02:04It's nice to get two goals from set plays, as we know how important that's going to be as well
02:08this year.
02:10I thought, you know, to a man, everyone was brilliant, kept the spaces tight,
02:14as we knew what they were about, and we've done what we needed to do,
02:18and we've done a number on them, and yeah, like I said, we take confidence from it.
02:22We enjoy the victory today.
02:24Obviously, we've got a game on Tuesday night that we need to prepare for now,
02:26and then a massive game, obviously, next weekend against Coventry,
02:29which obviously, we know how big that's going to be.
02:31So, yeah, we can take a lot of confidence and keep going.
02:34Just on that, they'll be calling that six-point second day of the season already,
02:37but that is, the fact you're going there with this Bungie battle,
02:40they've obviously been toned for three in Arsenal.
02:43It is a big game already, isn't it?
02:45Yeah, it's a big game, yeah.
02:47There's no hiding from that.
02:50Obviously, they were unfortunate last night.
02:51Obviously, to go away to the Emirates is going to be tough for anybody this season,
02:56but obviously, they'll know how much of a big game that is as well as we do.
02:59So, we take the confidence from today's victory, of course, and recover well.
03:04I think that's important because the intensity of the games are so high.
03:08So, lads need to get used to that sort of level, and then we'll go there and give it a
03:15right good go.
03:15Just finally, on a personal level, you said to me that somebody won another crack at the Premier League.
03:20How was it compared to particularly last season?
03:23What was that intensity you mentioned?
03:24What was that like?
03:25Yeah, it's tough.
03:26Don't get me wrong, because teams move the ball so fast,
03:29and any little gap they play through and up-back throughs,
03:33they're in on your goals.
03:35Also, it's tough, but ultimately, this is where I want to be.
03:40This is where I strive to be, as well as everybody in the dressing room, I believe.
03:44So, yeah, obviously delighted.
03:46I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and keep speaking about playing to super strengths,
03:52and I need to keep doing that and then keep building on what things I need to work on as
03:56well.
03:58But like I've previously stated, take the confidence from today and move forward.

04:09Pretty much all of you have had players signed who could take your place.
04:12What does that sort of trust from the manager do for you?
04:15Yeah, it means the world.
04:18You know, we don't take it for granted because the manager's got a ruthless streak in him,
04:23to be fair to him.
04:24But to know that he feels like he can trust you to step over that white line in the Premier
04:28League
04:28and go against Manchester United, you know, it means an awful lot.
04:31And there's a brilliant togetherness in that dressing room, especially from last season.
04:36I think that was one of the biggest, biggest parts of us getting over the line, in my opinion.
04:41And I think we can ultimately keep building on that.
04:45And I think it will take us a long way this year.
04:48And we'll go toe to toe against most teams with that core that we've got in the dressing room.
04:52And I think it will be really important.
04:54And is that important for you lads in the club?
04:56Do you really sort of protect that and make sure lads come in and understand the way of doing things?
05:02Yeah, because I feel like ultimately it's what's brought us success.
05:05And I think that's important to, you know, to keep playing to that.
05:08We appreciate obviously there's going to be new bodies coming in that hopefully make us stronger.
05:13But then ultimately it's down to us who were, you know, playing the championship last season,
05:17making that step up to the Premier League to prove that we can play at this division and step up.
05:21Competition for places is healthy, I think, I believe.
05:24And it keeps you on your toes and it keeps you pushing.
05:27You have to keep improving.
05:29Do you really feel that?
05:30Because obviously, you know, targets come in.
05:32Elliott can play in the opposition.
05:34Does that really spur you on rather than sort of, you know, have a negative impact?
05:40Obviously, everybody's different, don't be wrong.
05:42It's always nice if it's just you.
05:43Of course it is.
05:44But this is football, you know.
05:46You can't take things so granted.
05:47You know, there's injuries and things.
05:48You need a squad.
05:49And we know the level of the Premier League this year intensity-wise
05:53is going to be so high that, you know, we might suffer a few injuries along the way
05:57and then you've got people that can step in.
05:59So, it's important.
06:01But like I've said, it keeps you on your toes because you've got good players
06:04and ultimately, you know, from a personal note, I've got to step up.
06:07And it's as simple as that.
06:09And if I don't step up, I won't be a part of the Premier League.
06:11And that's the same with everybody in the dressing room.
06:14You know, it's not going to be easy, but if you want to be here,
06:17you've got to prove you can play here.
06:20And from that season, you're very used to getting written off as a team.
06:23Is there a part of you quietly happy that people are not typically to finish?
06:29In some ways, I can understand it.
06:31Of course, I can.
06:31Teams that come up, obviously, everybody feels like they're going to go straight back down.
06:35You know, that's everybody's opinion.
06:36That's absolutely fine.
06:37I feel like we just have to go about our business as we do.
06:40We've got brilliant belief in the dressing room.
06:43You know, we're under no illusion.
06:44We understand it's going to be tough and we're going to have tough days
06:47and days where we're going to have to bounce back.
06:49Of course, we are.
06:51But like I've stressed, you know, the resilience, the togetherness of the group,
06:55I feel like we can cause teams problems.
06:57And hopefully today against such a big side, you know, sends a statement that,
07:02you know, like I've said, we're not here just to make the numbers up.
07:20You know, obviously, we've seen it.
07:22Of course, we have.
07:25It's I guess it's just part of, you know, being involved in the Premier League, if you like.
07:29You know, it's the biggest league in world football.
07:32Obviously, everybody's watching.
07:35Everybody's got opinions.
07:36And I guess it's just down to us as boys to try and use that as fuel, I think,
07:40and just and try and get on with it.
07:43Like I've said, I appreciate everybody might feel like we will go down.
07:46That's absolutely fine.
07:47That's their opinion.
07:48But I don't think you need to get too caught up in it from our side.
07:53I think we just need to keep doing what we're doing.
07:55Like I've said, days like today can send a little statement to the rest of the division.
07:59I appreciate it's just one game.
08:00But, you know, I do believe that we can we can cause teams some problems this season.
08:06And how does that spirit togetherness from last season?
08:09Are you even surprised at quite how well they were?
08:12I mean, it just seems that your plan was perfectly to be set for this season.
08:17Not really, because I feel like we did that a lot last year.
08:19And, you know, I feel like we've ultimately done the same.
08:23And we knew what we were coming up against.
08:25Like I've said before, there's some brilliant players.
08:27And we knew we had to keep, you know, spaces tight and keep the distances tight.
08:31And otherwise, before you know it, they'll be on goal.
08:35So we knew how important that would be.
08:37But we've also got legs to burn, I feel like, on the counter attack.
08:41And we've got, you know, get the ball out wide.
08:43We've got big Olly Mac in the box.
08:45If you put it on his head, you know, within the minimum, he's hitting the target.
08:50So, you know, along that with the set plays and the monsters we've got in the box,
08:54I feel like we can cause problems.
09:18Yeah, massive. And I feel like they have to buy into it because that is going to be ultimately a
09:23massive thing for us this year.
09:25And it's proven today, two set plays, two goals, and we win the game.
09:29So, and I feel like boys that come in will understand that.
09:34We work on it.
09:34Of course, we're on the training ground working on it because we feel like we can use that as a
09:38tool
09:39with the big guys we've got in the box and good delivery from individuals.
09:43And it's going to be massively important, yeah, for sure.
10:04I don't know if you feel, I feel like I notice it as such, I feel like for me it's
10:08just sticking to the game plan is important.
10:10Not going off set, you know, because like I've said before, they've got brilliant players.
10:14And if, you know, one player gets it wrong before you know it, the ball could also be in the
10:19back of your net.
10:20So I think it's just about sticking to the game plan.
10:23Concentration is really, really important.
10:24And that togetherness, the aggression, you know, we're going to need to do that this season.
10:29That's going to be a minimum requirement.
10:31And along with that, you know, with the pace we can do on the counter attack, you know, like I've
10:36said, set plays.
10:37You know, I feel like we can cause problems.
10:39And yeah, hopefully long may it continue.

10:58But I guess you just have to go one game at a time at the moment and not get too

11:02I think it's important we celebrate and enjoy today because, you know, it's a brilliant, brilliant achievement for the football
11:08club and the boys in the dressing room.
11:10And it's important we celebrate and enjoy the victory.
11:13But it's a long, long season, isn't it, at the end of the day.
11:16And we know there's going to be tough times this season.
11:19That's going to be inevitable.
11:21But yeah, just keep going one game at a time.
11:23And I've got full belief in the group for sure.
11:26Did you like the amount of time you've had to do?
11:38Not really, no.
11:39Because ultimately we stuck to our game plan and we feel like we knew what they were trying to do.
11:44And I think they were trying to do it, but we kept the gap so tight and the distance was
11:49so tight where it made it quite challenging for them.

12:33the top teams
12:34they're a top team
12:35we've had to do that today
12:36but I really do feel
12:37like we do that very well
12:38and I think we have to
12:39believe in that
12:40and keep sticking to that
12:41and then
12:42like I've said
12:43and go out
12:44on the counter-attack
