00:26Alright, let's go. So today I'm going to show you how to make a book monster. I have two googly

00:33eyes. You're going to need a square. I have some of these sequences, things that you can decorate the book

00:43monster with. You're going to need glue and maybe some markers to, you know, help decorate it and maybe five

00:51strips of paper depending on how big your book monster is going to be.

00:55This is a big square. So let's get started. I'm going to show you how to do it. And I

01:01just have a book here so that you can see how you put the book monster on. The book monster

01:08is a bookmark. It's a cute little way for children to bookmark when they finish reading and they're not finished

01:18reading the book.

01:19They can bookmark it with a book monster. Okay? So let's get started. So what you're going to do is

01:26you're going to have yourself a square and you're going to fold it in half like this. Okay?

01:33And you can use this with any kind of paper. I usually use it with construction paper, but I took

01:40a lot of stuff to work and now I have nothing at home. So if it's not quite even, then

01:47you just cut off the extras.

01:49So I'm just going to cut off the extras to make it look more even. If it's not, let's see

02:00this side here. Get this side a little more even. Okay?

02:08Let me do it this way. Let me do it this way because I'm a righty. So I'm doing it

02:14this way. Here we go. That's what you're doing. Just cut off your excess like that. All right? Cut it

02:21off. So now you've got it in half, right?

02:24So now I'm going to do it this way so that you can actually see it a little better. So

02:29now you're going to fold it over like this. You're going to fold the other side and you want to

02:38make sure that it's even. Like that.

02:45So I have this part, but now I have to get this part to match. Yeah. So that's pretty good

02:53in matching. So you're going to fold it over like that and it's going to be like this. Just like

02:59this. Okay?

03:01And then you're going to flip this part up this way. Like this. And fold it. And then you're going

03:17to bring this part back down. And then what I usually do is I like to cut, well what I'm

03:26going to do is I'm going to color it inside just a little blue.

03:31Just to give it a little blue in the middle. Since I don't have construction paper. So just a little

03:44bit in the blue just to give it a little color there so you'll see what I mean.

03:51Because when you fold it over just like that. So when you fold it over that little bit of glue

03:58it pops out like that. Okay. So now as you fold it over you're going to take your scissors and

04:07just cut a little piece of that off like that.

04:11And then you can take a little glue and stick here. And then you can take a little glue and

04:16stick here. It's what I do. A little glue here. And you're going to fold it under just like that.

04:27And fold this side under just like that. So now it's looking like this. Okay? Just like that. Now you

04:42have your little book monster. Right?

04:46But now it's not finished. So now you're going to take your scissors. And you're going to cut some shapes.

05:00Okay?

05:03So you're going to start cutting. I have like five strips of paper because again I didn't have construction paper.

05:11I did a lot of them. I did 25 of these little book monsters for the children in my class.

05:19And I'm not the teacher. Okay? I'm the pattern professional in the classroom. Just to get that clear. But I

05:26made it for them. And the kids absolutely love them. And they use them. So I wanted to share how

05:32to make it.

05:33So this makes five strips. I just had to color it in with some markers. I used some Sharpies and

05:40I colored the white paper because I have new construction paper.

05:43So all you do is now you're going to cut out your teeth. So kind of like this. You don't

05:55want to cut it off. You just want to kind of go back and forth.

05:59And it doesn't have to cut it off. And it doesn't have to be perfect triangles because it's for kids.

06:08And whatever they do, however they make it, it's fine. Because it's cool. Okay?

06:19It's creative. It's creative. They can be as creative as they want. I love to see when I make something

06:26and the kid puts a little twist on it. I just love that.

06:30So you're just cutting out your teeth. Right now. You're just making teeth. So it's coming out like that. And

06:40you just cut them out.

06:45Like that. I'm still cutting. I'm trying to be easy because it's thin. I don't want to rip it. It's

06:56not like construction paper.

06:59And plus I have big scissors in my job. And I have these, you know, kitty scissors. So I'm going

07:05to take my time because I don't want to mess it up.

07:13To cut and cutting. I actually just wanted to show you how to make everything. Okay?

07:22Step by step. Because usually I would have this stuff made. And I thought about how I was doing my

07:30channel. And I said, you know what?

07:33You need to make it better. So now I need to show you more on how to make the things.

07:40And I haven't already made. Like show you how to make it.

07:43So now we made our teeth. Now all you're going to do is glue it. So you're going to take

07:49your glue stick.

07:52And you're going to put glue on your paper.

07:59And you're going to glue this part down. You're going to glue his teeth down like that.

08:08Just like that.

08:12And there you go. Okay?

08:15And now what you do is you just cut off that excess.

08:21That's how I do it. You just cut it off.

08:25Just like that. Now, you're going to take this piece.

08:29And you're going to glue it to the other side of it.

08:41Because some of you put a little bit of glue.

08:45And then it pulls off.

08:49You must make sure that when you're using this, you put a lot of glue so that it can stick.

13:09And still always remember, make sure you put enough glue.
