00:01Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most plausible fan theories
00:06as to what Toy Story 5 story may be about. Major spoilers from the franchise to come.
00:2710. Another Emotional Ending
00:29He's brave, like a cowboy should be, and kind and smart. But the thing that makes Woody special
00:39is he'll never give up on you. Ever.
00:42The franchise really gained a reputation for its heart-wrenching ending starting from Toy Story 3
00:48when Woody and the other toys say their final farewell to Andy. Toy Story 4 also delivered a
00:54wallop of an emotional ending when Woody bids farewell to the rest of the toys. So it stands
00:59to reason we'll be getting another tearjerker for the fifth installment of the series.
01:03Does this mean Woody's a lost toy?
01:07He's not lost. Not anymore.
01:10One fan theory suggests that the ending of Toy Story 5 will give us a teenage Bonnie, or even
01:16have Jesse and the rest of the toys reunite with Woody and Bo-Pete. Either way, it's a
01:21reasonable bet some tissues will be involved.
01:299. The Army of Buzz Lightyear's is due to the toys' anniversary.
01:34And this is the Buzz Lightyear aisle. Back in 1995, short-sighted retailers did not order
01:40enough dolls to meet demand. In 2024, at D23 Brazil, Pixar released concept art of malfunctioning
01:47Buzz Lightyear toys breaking free. Sure enough, Toy Story 5's trailer shows us a brief moment of buzz
01:53buzz with the other Buzz Lightyear. How will this play out in the film proper?
01:57Our mission on this planet is to make a child happy.
02:01One fan theory posits it's the 15th anniversary of Buzz Lightyear in-universe, so the toy company
02:06could have released a commemorative version. It could also be that Andy would buy a Buzz Lightyear
02:11toy for his kids, prompting the original Andy's toys to reunite with him. Either way, it'd be interesting
02:17to see the role these Buzz Lightyers would play in the story. And this is Buzz Lightyear, the coolest
02:27toy ever. 8. The Carnival Brings Woody Back to Town
02:32In Toy Story 4, Bonnie and her family take a road trip to a traveling carnival where her toys
02:37naturally get lost. Woody reunites with Bo-Peep there. Who needs a kid's room when you can have all
02:45of this? After his adventure, he decides to stay with her in the carnival, helping other lost toys
02:52find their owners. If so, that means he will likely be doing some traveling of his own, perhaps even back
02:58to Andy's hometown or most likely Bonnie's. Okay, enter. Please don't be far. Please, please. Right
03:07around the corner? Per this theory, Woody would reunite with his old friends and play some role in the
03:12Toy Story 5 plot. We'll see how it goes, but the carnival's return is certainly not far-fetched.
03:18I'm losing Bonnie to this device. You gotta find me.
03:237. Woody Will Not Return to Bonnie
03:26And the Sheriff. Okay, bye toys.
03:31Yeehaw! Sheriff Jesse! Giddy up, bullseye.
03:35The ending of Toy Story 4 proved a little divisive among fans. Some fans were upset that Woody would
03:42ever abandon his human, given his intense loyalty to Andy and the rest of the toys.
03:47On the other hand, many people liked the theme of letting go of the past and starting anew.
03:52Don't get me wrong, you still feel good about it, but then somehow you find yourself after all those
03:57years sitting in a closet, just feeling useless? Yeah.
04:05To these fans, Woody going back to Bonnie in this latest installment would invalidate his personal
04:10journey in 4. One fan prediction, then, is that Woody would not return to Bonnie in the 5th movie and
04:16instead stay a lost toy. Whatever side you're on, we can be sure we will get a final answer to
04:22the
04:22Bonnie question soon enough.
04:24Buzz, I, uh, I, uh, she'll be okay.
04:32Bonnie, we'll be okay.
04:356. Lillipad will be an ally first, but then a malevolent iPad
04:46One new character we will certainly encounter in Toy Story 5 is Lillipad. Introduced in the trailer,
04:53Lillipad is Bonnie's new smart tablet, preferred by Bonnie over Jesse and the other toys. It seems
04:59almost certain Lillipad will be an antagonist of some sort. Moreover, it looks like she will be an
05:04ally to the toys before revealing her true colors, as fans have speculated. What are you? Some sort
05:10of old man toy? What? She thinks you're old because you're bald, Woody. Exactly how Lillipad
05:16will cause trouble remains to be seen. Whatever the case, the theme of technology versus old-fashioned
05:21playtime will definitely play out in this film. You're stupid. You're not even listening to me.
05:26Oh, no, I was listening. I'm always listening. See? Now look here, me and the toys have been working
05:31all summer to try to get Bonnie to make friends with the Jordan twins. Now in Spanish. Number five,
05:36the side characters shine. I think I have to go. Where are you going? Why? Should we all go? Are
05:42we
05:42going? No time to explain. Attack. No time to explain. Oh, no. Okay, what is with everyone jumping
05:49out the window? A common complaint of Toy Story 4 is that Andy's old toys did not have much to
05:55do in
05:55the film. This was glaringly obvious compared to the big role they played in the other movies.
06:00Whoa, whoa. Hold on there, boss. Those caterpillar kids need someone to play with. But my friends
06:06don't belong there. So many fans hope the old gang will play a more significant role in Toy Story 5.
06:12The trailer does suggest a dual narrative with Jesse and the other toys fighting with Lillipad and Woody
06:17and Bo Peep in their arc. Nice poncho. It's good to see them fighting again. It's your ears.
06:24No doubt those two narratives will merge. But it does give the film an opportunity to let Andy's
06:28toys shine without Woody. Number 4. Technology leads Buzz and company to become lost toys.
06:34I don't know, Jesse. Toys are for play. But tech is for everything.
06:40A confrontation with Lillipad seems inevitable based on what we've seen. If so, then fans
06:46postulate we'll be seeing a repeat of the other Toy Story movies, with Lillipad becoming the
06:51temporary Victor and Buzz Jesse et al. becoming lost toys.
06:57I'm lost. I'm a lost toy.
07:02If so, they may well reunite with Woody and Bo Peep this way. The latter may even help them find
07:08new
07:08owners. Conversely, they could accept them as perpetual lost toys and let them travel with the
07:14carnival. Toy Story 5 may even take a page from the short Lamp Life which followed Bo Peep's own
07:20journey onto becoming a lost toy.
07:22Oh, what happened all that time? Do you ever miss the lamp?
07:25Ah, the lamp. Girls, do we miss the lamp?
07:30Number 3. Lillipad is not the main villain.
07:33Bonnie needs help from someone at least from the same century.
07:36Isn't it a little suspicious that Toy Story 5's antagonist has been revealed early and easily?
07:42There must be a twist, right? After all, other Toy Story films apart from the first one had twist
07:48villains and Pixar kept those under wraps until the release.
08:00Fans have speculated as such, theorizing that Lillipad is a red herring villain and that the
08:06real one is someone else entirely.
08:15Exactly who it will be is uncertain. Maybe the twist villain in Toy Story 3 would return? Either way,
08:21Lillipad being a bait-and-switched antagonist is plausible.
08:25Number 2. Jesse is the new leader of Bonnie's toys, not Buzz.
08:29Is it as bad out there for toys as they say it is?
08:32We're finding more abandoned toys each day.
08:35The new trailer certainly suggests this heavily, with Jesse communicating with Woody via walkie-talkie.
08:40The featurette also has Jesse confront Lillipad, not Buzz.
08:44I'm gonna have some words with this Lillipad and let her know how things are run around here.
08:49Try to stay calm, Jesse.
08:50Buzz, you know me. I'm the definition of calm.
08:54That's not gonna work.
08:56This would make sense, since Buzz has always been the deuteragonist to Woody's protagonist.
09:01Jesse taking Woody's place as leader, being another cowboy doll, would be in line with that.
09:06Also, of all the toys besides Woody and Buzz, Jesse is the one we know best,
09:11with a sympathetic backstory and all. In this setup, we may even get more Jesse-Buzz
09:16romantic moments in The Bargain 2. Buzz and Jesse as a power couple? Yes please!
09:23I've never seen the true beauty until this night.
09:27Did you fix Buzz?
09:29Uh, sort of.

09:57Number 1. Andy will get the toys back for his kids.
10:01You did it! Next stop, Andy!
10:04It must be said that Andy is still very popular with fans and general audiences alike,
10:10so the likelihood that Andy may return in some way is high, or at least the prospect is desirable.
10:16Exactly what role he'd play is obscure, but if the toys can't stay with Bonnie,
10:21then one option is that Andy will come across his toys in some way and get them back for his
10:26own kids.
10:27And he'll play with us then, right?
10:29We'll always be there for him.
10:31It would complete the cycle very neatly and illustrate the franchise's themes of loyalty and friendship.
10:37Also, it would bring out the waterworks for a truly emotional conclusion.
