Today’s work, [Blue Cut], was written based on the core theories of Albert Camus, the master of 20th-century existentialist literature: Mediterranean Thought and Noces (Nuptials: Union with Nature). In opposition to the dark and heavy nihilism of Northern Europe, Camus emphasized the lucidity of the Mediterranean, filled with light and the sea. He believed that even if the world is an inherently meaningless and absurd place, experiencing the brilliant sun and the blue sea with one's entire being is a human's greatest right and form of rebellion.
This project visualizes a world of absolute clarity where nothing is hidden, using the sharp contrast of white and blue along with the horizon stretching beyond stone arches.
The line "Too bright, Blue cut! Don't need a meaning, No-way!" in the lyrics sings of the sensory joy of existence that transcends complex logic. Furthermore, the expression "Lying under the sun with a empty mind" reflects the designer’s composure—detaching from the noisy values of the city to focus solely on the present light.
