00:00Well, we should mention this. We didn't mention this in headlines, but they were just talking
00:03about it on TV. Von Miller signing with the Cowboys. Uh, yeah, that's, uh, so that's another
00:08big name off the market. The Texans got Jadeveon Clowney. So they're cool at, uh, DE three right
00:14now. DE four and DE five are still an issue. Yeah. And, uh, the different type of player
00:20than Jadeveon Clowney and Von Miller, Von Miller really only made sense for the Texans
00:24if they were going to like, Von Miller makes sense. The guy's going to come in on pass rushing
00:29like on second long and third long, the Texans already have those guys, you know, and so
00:34Clowney is a guy who come in on third down, but also can be really effective on first and
00:39second down and not just stop the run on first down, but also rush the passer. So, um, I thought
00:44Clowney was a much better fit. And then in terms of age and injury, the history of Clowney's
00:51been a lot more durable than Von Miller over the last few years. Very durable. Who would
00:54have predicted that after his first two seasons, but he's been super durable. Um, Mike Flory
00:59has the Texans, Seth third in his preseason NFL power rankings, not third in the AFC third
01:08in the national football league behind the top two teams over in the NFC, the defending
01:12champ Seahawks. Number one, the odds on favorite right now, the Rams number two, number three,
01:22the Houston Texans. Well, you know, I think this is a, it's going to be interesting to see
01:27exactly how people feel about the Texans after the preseason where, you know, by and large
01:31people try not to read too much into it, but the, the standard take in the off season was
01:36wow. If CJ Stroud just could have played like an average quarterback, they probably would
01:41have been in the Superbowl. Fair enough. Take pretty milk toast. A lot of people try to
01:44sell that. Like it was a hot take, but if that's what you were saying all off season, and
01:49if it feels like the Texans offense is not, it doesn't have to feel like the Texans offense
01:53is going to be incredible, but are they going to be better than they were last year? Does
01:57that allow CJ to play more up to his capabilities without even being a top five guy or anything?
02:03I think it's reasonable that people are going to start feeling that way. I feel like, I feel
02:07the offense is going to be better just based on what I've seen in practice. Somebody, somebody
02:11yesterday said, said that I was being over, they thought I was being overly optimistic about
02:16the offense. And I, and I, I had a congenial exchange with him, but I'm saying, well, what does
02:21overly optimistic mean? Because the only, I haven't made any predictions about CJ being
02:26a top five quarterback or anything like that. I only think based on what I'm watching in
02:31practice, that they're going to be a better offense than last year. And I think the defense,
02:35the defense is going to be at least as good and possibly better. So yeah, I think that's,
02:39it makes sense that the Texans would be a better football team overall is, uh, does it elevate
02:44them up to number three? Um, I don't know if I'd put them there quite yet.
02:47No, and just to, and we'll hear from Florio for his reasoning here in just a second, but
02:51he's got Seahawks one Rams, two Texans, three, and then the next couple of teams, Broncos
02:58bills. That's the first team that he's got in here that the Texans actually play this season.
03:04Um, bears Patriots are at six and seven Eagles Jags Ravens round out the top 10.
03:10The bills are really interesting because this is, you and I were talking about this the other
03:14night during the game, we were just talking about, okay, the bills and the fact that Joe
03:18Brady was elevated from offensive coordinator to head coach and the numbers on in-house promotions
03:23to head coach are ridiculously bad, almost to the point where it defies explanation. You
03:29would have thought that it's somewhere along the way it would have, it almost never works
03:33out with an in-house promotion. I might have to go back to when Walsh left, uh, the 49ers
03:38with it. Like that might, that one worked out. Yeah. Yeah. But that, yeah, you're right.
03:42That might be the last one. So, um, and, and the people in Buffalo, I've heard scuttlebutt
03:48about like, wow, boy, this really just seems to be the guy Josh Allen wanted. Yeah. And
03:53is Joe Brady, the guy that all of a sudden now is going to, is, is, is going to do
03:58something
03:59different than the coach that really brought the bills out of McDermott lifted them out of the
04:05morass. He's a good coach. Yeah. Sean McDermott was a good head coach. A good head coach.
04:09He's got his flaws and didn't do this, didn't do that. Um, but I think DJ Moore is going to
04:14be really interesting because the last time DJ Moore was really explosive downfield and
04:17productive was in Carolina with Joe Brady. Yeah. So the, that's what Josh Allen needed
04:23last year, which was a vertical threat. Somebody that could win on the outside. If DJ Moore is
04:27still that guy, the Texans aren't going to be able to come in and spy Josh Allen as much
04:32like they're not, it's not going to be the same game plan. Four weeks from yesterday
04:37is Texans bills. Week one, we are inside of a month from the opener, which you can hear
04:42right here on 95 seven, the fan here's Mike Florio with the reasoning behind his number
04:48three ranking for the Texans. I think their defense is good enough to get to the Superbowl
04:53and win it. And their offense only needs to be a little bit better. There you go. I watched
04:57what happened against the Steelers, a game that the offense seemingly tried to lose and they
05:02still won the game 30 to six. Now it was seven to six going into the fourth quarter. And I
05:07watched
05:08the Patriots game as did you, we were in the bowels literally of soldier field, watching Patriots
05:14Texans. And if CJ Stroud isn't seemingly intending to complete passes to Patriots players in the first
05:23half, the Texans win that game. And if the Texans go to Denver the following week, maybe the Texans
05:30win. And if it's the Texans and the Seahawks in the Superbowl and that defense is playing the way
05:35that defense has been playing and the offense adds a little something, maybe the Texans not just get
05:41to the, they've never been to the AFC championship. They could have gotten to the Superbowl last year.
05:44They could have won the Superbowl. And I think they can do it this year. I think that they are
05:48being woefully underrated. They are being woefully overlooked and they probably would prefer that I
05:53not have them as high as number three. The only part I, that I skew towards disagreement with,
05:58I don't vehemently disagree with it. Um, is just, I, I don't know if the Texans beat the Seahawks
06:03on that day. I, you know, the Seahawks and maybe it plays out differently. You know, the matchup with
06:09the Patriots might've benefited them, but the Seahawks were really, I mean, they played the Texans in week
06:14seven. I'll tell you one thing about that Superbowl though. I think it was like Sam Darnold easily could
06:18have thrown three picks in the first half. It was, that was dicier and more precarious. I think
06:23then, then it probably felt when you look back at the sum total, but man, they were like the Patriots
06:30were giving him hell. Did the Texans end up, did the Texans give them just a little bit more hell?
06:35Um, or are their defensive backs better at coming up with like some of those, some of those balls
06:39that could have been interceptions are like ones that Derek Singley probably makes. Yes. Yeah.
06:43That's a good point. That's a really good point. Actually. Um, did you, as long as we're talking
06:47about Florio, how about Michael Holly is cohost that one day passing out and just hitting the
06:54floor. And it was, you could see on camera, his eyes start going wide. If you weren't watching,
06:59you would think he was like shocked at something Florio was saying. His eyes go super, super wide
07:05and he wavers a little bit and then he falls down. And then you find out that he had just
07:09fainted and
07:10he's okay, which means it's okay to, to laugh at all the memes that are out there now.
07:15And we'll be forever. Yeah. Cause it's a pretty, it's a pretty strong visual. You got to find
07:21it. Go out of, go out of your way to find it. What would have made it funnier is if
07:24he had,
07:24if it happened to take place as Florio is giving one of his, you know, bombastic takes that he has
07:31about something. Yeah. Then we could have attributed it to that, but it's Florio had gotten like mad
07:36at him mocking him. Florio looked genuinely concerned. He did mostly because he figured
07:41he's probably losing. Or are you thinking I'm going to make so much money on this clip?
07:44But Florio, I get Florio credit because you can see Holly teetering and Florio just keeps
07:51powering through his take. He doesn't acknowledge Holly. Well, like teetering until Holly hits the
07:56floor. But you know what, what happens on these shows though, too, is a lot of times you're not
08:00looking when you're talking, you're not looking directly at your hosts on your computer because
08:03you're looking at the camera. So a lot of times you're kind of, you're monitoring, you're trying
08:08to look at the camera and depending on what your setup is, it's a, yeah, he might not have noticed
08:12that Michael Holly. Yeah. He might've just heard him hit the floor. Like, um, it's pretty, it was
08:17pretty scary, but yes, we can joke about it now that he's okay. I guess the only injury he sustained
08:20is he, he had a cut on his leg from the fall or something like that. So, uh, thoughts and
08:26prayers
08:26to Mike Holly. I also, I like the way that Florio made it sound like, uh, I thought he was
08:31going
08:31to go on to a, like speculations of CJ tanking the game. Looked like he was trying to throw
08:38passes to the Patriots. I don't know you this day and age where gambling is legal in all
08:42these States. Um, real quick, cause we played, um, we played the McAfee, we played a part
08:48of a song from Pat McAfee's new music album. Yes. Pat McAfee has a music album. We'll close
08:52the show on this. Got in the, excuse me, got in the car just now with 95 seven set on
08:57the
08:57radio, heard that crappy country music and thought y'all screwed up and switched back
09:02to the spot. I literally switched over to six, 10 to figure out what the hell was going
09:06on. Don't ever do that again. Yeah. That's from Adam. There's a, I can't promise we won't
09:10do that. There's a greater than zero chance that at some point Pat McAfee owns our show.
09:14Yes. We gotta be careful. It's probably, yeah. Oh, that's true. I take it all back. The
09:18album's amazing. Screw him. Antibodies to you. Yeah. Antibodies and, uh, you know, stack bills
09:24or whatever back. Yeah. All you Karen's out there stacking bills.
