The shift is non-human identity — company logins that aren't people. Palo Alto Networks' twenty twenty-six Identity Security Landscape report, built on nearly three thousand decision-makers, put machine identities at a hundred and nine to one over humans — seventy-nine of them AI agents.

Here's the catch. Palo Alto Networks says forty percent of those agents already reach company data — and only thirty-seven percent of organizations can actually revoke an agent's credentials. So the question isn't what it can do. It's whether you can take the keys back when the person who set it up leaves.
