A cuatro días del terremoto, uno de los principales retos es llevar la ayuda a las zonas que más lo necesitan y que tienen problemas de conexión. Así fueron los dos vuelos de Satena.

00:00Four days after the earthquake, the humanitarian response continues to gain momentum. One of
00:04One of the biggest challenges this week has been very specific: how to get the aid to
00:09Where is it needed most? Satena provided an answer from the air.
00:13The state airline operated two special flights from Bogotá to Quibdó on Thursday.
00:18and Buenaventura. On board they transported nearly six tons of non-perishable food,
00:23Medicines and essential supplies. In addition, 15 healthcare professionals are en route
00:28to the Colombian Pacific. The first flight departed at 7 a.m. for Quibdó with three
00:33tons of donations. The second one left at noon for Buenaventura with another three
00:38tons and medical personnel. All this without affecting the airline's regular operations.
00:43One of the areas benefiting from this initiative is the 13 de Mayo sector, located in the neighborhood
00:49Flores Buenaño, in the department of Chocó.
00:52We are in the first shelter located in the May 13th sector because we have three.
00:57This would be the largest shelter. We have approximately 15 families sleeping here.
01:02Here they were able to take, let's say, a few things from their house.
01:06It has been a very hard-hit, very vulnerable population. They haven't received any support; the mayor's office hasn't reached them.
01:12The governor's office. We came to make our presence known and deliver 25 food baskets that they have donated to us.
01:18A large part of it is Athens. We are waiting to receive more aid to see how else we can support them.
01:25and give them some peace of mind in the midst of this chaos.
01:29For this mission, Atena deployed an ATR-42 aircraft from its fleet linked to the Force.
01:35Colombian Aerospace.
01:36Well, many of us lost everything in our homes. Many of us lost everything. Architects have already come,
01:43Engineers came, inspected our homes, and told us we can't be there, that there are
01:48than to build them from scratch. There are some homes that were, let's say, a little less affected,
01:55But we are at risk because there is a building that is about to collapse and it will affect those homes.
02:01So, practically all the neighbors in this area are living in the three shelters.
02:06At this point, we're already at the stage where they say they need cement, rods, nails,
02:11boards for the reconstruction of their homes because, as we can see, they are in a shelter, it is small,
02:18So they don't have much access to bathrooms, water, showers, or cooking.
02:23So, that's like their biggest need right now.
02:27The efforts of Atena and other organizations demonstrate that every bit of help contributes to the reconstruction.
02:33of the most affected municipalities.
02:35Bringing in these initial supplies is just the beginning.
02:38The aid must continue so that sectors like the 13 de mayo in Chocol can get back on their feet.
