Cravinkel — Cravinkel 1970 (Germany, Krautrock, Psychedelic, Country Rock)
The debut album by a band from the port city of Wilhelmshaven (Lower Saxony), formed in 1969 and named after guitarist Gert Krawinkel in an English-sounding way. In 1970, they moved to Hamburg, then home to major record labels, and signed with Phonogram, a subsidiary of Philips. To create a suitable creative environment, the band settled in Volkmarst (near Bremervörde). Their self-titled debut album was recorded in London at IBC Studios, after which the band embarked on a European tour with Frumpy and Spooky Tooth. In September 1970, Cravinkel opened the Love and Peace Festival (the European answer to Woodstock) on Fehmarn Island.
