A fierce warning from Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has intensified criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing Israel of escalating what he described as illegal actions across Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. Standing alongside Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s support for Palestinian statehood and a two-state solution. He condemned occupation, forced displacement and settlement policies, citing UN figures that he said showed nearly 3,800 Palestinians displaced and almost 100 killed in 2026. Erdogan also warned that continued escalation could destabilize the wider region, while stressing that political negotiations, Palestinian self-government and elections remain essential to lasting peace.

00:00A fierce new warning from Ankara.
00:03Turkish President Rey Tayyip Erdogan is turning up the pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu,
00:08accusing Israel of escalating what he described as illegal actions across Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
00:17Standing alongside Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara, Erdogan delivered a blunt message.
00:24Turkey will continue fighting for the Palestinian cause, and it will not back down over Jerusalem's holy sites.
00:33Erdogan said Ankara remains committed to the creation of a Palestinian state based on a two-state solution,
00:40but his strongest criticism was aimed directly at Netanyahu's government.
00:45Erdogan accused the Israeli government of continuing what he called occupation,
00:51forced displacement, and policies aimed at taking Palestinian land.
00:56He claimed that nearly 3,800 Palestinians had been displaced during 2026 alone
01:03because of settler violence, demolitions, and evictions, citing United Nations data.
01:09He also said nearly 100 Palestinians had been killed.
01:14For Ankara, these figures are evidence of what Erdogan described as a systematic campaign
01:21that is intensifying rather than slowing down.
01:24And with tensions already running high across the region,
01:28Turkey's president warned that the consequences could extend far beyond the current battlefield.
01:34Erdogan's criticism did not stop at Gaza.
01:37He specifically pointed to the West Bank and Jerusalem,
01:41accusing Israel of policies that threaten the prospects for a future Palestinian state.
01:48Turkey says the only sustainable solution is political.
01:52Erdogan argued that Palestinians must ultimately be able to govern their own land,
01:57while also welcoming the prospect of Palestinian legislative in presidential elections.
02:03He said elections could help strengthen Palestinian unity
02:07and advance reconciliation among rival Palestinian factions.
02:11But the biggest flashpoint remains Jerusalem.
02:15During the meeting with Mahmoud Abbas,
02:17Erdogan placed particular emphasis on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
02:23He accused Israel of violations and provocations at Palestinian holy sites
02:29and warned strongly against any attempt to change the existing status quo at Al-Aqsa.
02:35For Turkey, the issue is deeply significant.
02:38Al-Aqsa is one of Islam's holiest sites,
02:42and any perceived change to its status can trigger tensions far beyond Jerusalem.
02:48Erdogan said Turkey would oppose what he described as attempts to alter the status quo
02:53and would continue standing with the Palestinian cause.
02:57The message from Ankara is becoming increasingly direct.
03:01Erdogan has repeatedly condemned Israel's military campaign,
03:05and his position Turkey is one of the strongest international supporters of the Palestinian cause.
03:12Now, with Mahmoud Abbas beside him,
03:14he is signaling that Turkey intends to remain politically engaged in efforts to establish a Palestinian state.
03:21That also puts Ankara on a collision course with Netanyahu's government.
03:27Erdogan described Netanyahu's government in extremely harsh terms
03:32and accused it of continuing policies that, in Turkey's view,
03:36undermine peace and Palestinian self-determination.
03:39The Turkish president's language leaves little room for ambiguity.
03:44At the heart of Erdogan's position is the two-state solution.
03:48Turkey wants an independent Palestinian state established alongside Israel
03:54with Palestinian political institutions strengthened
03:57and territorial issues resolved through diplomacy.
04:01But Erdogan's remarks suggest Ankara believes developments on the ground are moving in the opposite direction.
04:08Settler expansion, demolitions, displacement, and disputes over holy sites
04:14are, according to Turkey, making the creation of a viable Palestinian state increasingly difficult.
04:20And that is why Erdogan says Turkey will continue to push the Palestinian issue internationally.
04:27The confrontation over Palestine is therefore entering another tense phase.
04:33Erdogan is not simply criticizing Netanyahu.
04:36He is presenting Turkey as a long-term political backer of Palestinian statehood
04:42and warning that Jerusalem and its holy sites remain red lines.
04:47Standing beside Mahmoud Abbas, Erdogan ended with a forceful pledge.
04:52Turkey, he said, would continue the struggle with determination.
04:56For Netanyahu's government, the message from Ankara is unmistakable.
05:01Turkey intends to keep the pressure on.
05:04And, as tensions over Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem continue to mount,
05:10Erdogan's confrontation with Israel shows no sign of fading.
05:24It's a long-term political backer.
