00:07The function of the subnet mask is to separate these two.
00:09In technical terms, the subnet mask is a 32-bit number.
00:12Wherever there are 1s, they represent networks.
00:14Where there are 0s, they represent devices or hosts.
00:17Think of it like this: network ID is your city.
00:19And host ID is your house number.
00:20The subnet mask tells the router not to send the message to the local city.
