Artists found a way to fight back against AI — by feeding it poison. 😲
The tool: Nightshade, built by researchers at the University of Chicago. It makes tiny changes to your image — almost invisible to you, but toxic to an image model that trains on it. To a person it looks the same, but if an AI scrapes it for training, a poisoned photo of a dog can teach it that a dog is a cat.
For a business it's a deterrent — run it on product photos and brand art so scraping them backfires (its cousin Glaze protects your art style). The catch: it's a slow arms race, not a lock — models can be trained to resist it, and it may slightly alter your image.
