00:00Yeah, after my mum died, just before my 13th birthday, I was, I don't want this job, I don't
00:05want this role, whatever, wherever this is headed, I don't like it. It killed my mum,
00:10and I, this is just, this is, I was very much against it. And I stuck my head in the
00:14sand
00:15for years, fingers of the ears, blah, blah, blah, blah, don't want it. And eventually I realised,
00:19well, hang on, if there was somebody else in this position, how would they be making the most of
00:23this platform, and this ability, and the resources that come with it to make a difference in the
00:28world? And also, what would my mum want me to do? And that really changed my perspective.
00:33And then I realised, wow, actually, helping other people is also helping me. And that service,
00:40for me, and I've seen for so many other people as well, is a cure in itself. Because it really
00:47is incredibly energising, very depleting, when you're bouncing around, trying to give as much
00:52time and energy as you can. But certainly for me, and for my wife, the work that we do,
00:58we really enjoy it. We get to hang out together, and meet amazing people and go to some incredible
01:06places. But that service, that giving back, for me has been a cure. One of the under the carpet
01:16reasons and such for creating Invictus, or certainly one of the benefits that I get out of Invictus,
01:21is I get my annual fix by being back together with that community, and hearing their stories,
01:27and putting everything into perspective, and being re-energised for whatever life throws
01:34of me.
