00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an order that calls for fewer childhood vaccines
00:05and also recommends splitting the mumps, missiles, and rubella MMR shots.
00:11The order, signed on Monday at the Oval Office, recommends that the number of childhood vaccines
00:17drop to 11 from the existing 18 recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
00:24It comes despite experts' warnings that allowing time between jobs means children are more likely to contract diseases in the
00:33interim.
00:34Effective immediately, my administration is recognizing gold standard childhood vaccine recommendations
00:39for only 11 core vaccinations against the most serious and dangerous diseases along with the MMR,
00:47which hopefully will be split up.
00:48You have the MMR. We want it in three separate vaccinations, given at separate times.
00:55According to the U.S. Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,
00:59the proposed changes were meant to give parents choice, not prohibit access to childhood vaccines.
01:06Trump's order serves as guidance, not a mandate,
01:10since shots required for school attendance are set at the state level rather than by the federal government.
01:17You can figure it out.
