00:00Managed my career and she used to know every single thing I was doing.
00:03So for her to come in and know nothing, how did it feel, my heart?
00:06They hid it from me.
00:07And when I came in, I was looking for a little ice cream stand.
00:12You know, like, oh, I feel scoops, scoops.
00:14And then it was like, holy Toledo.
00:19I was crying and excited and proud, you know?
00:24So this is really special, really special.
00:27Because we spent a lot of hard times when Tara was very young and the one way we would
00:36lift our spirits is with ice cream.
00:39We would drive to, I would drive to Hollywood, to Hollywood, California, we were 30 minutes
00:46away from Hollywood Boulevard is where we lived and after work, after my second or third job,
00:53we'd go over to the ice cream parlor and get cups or cones and sit in the car and people
01:03watch and talk about our dreams and talk about where we wanted to go and what we wanted to
01:09do in life.
01:09And this is an extension of that, that those dreams that we talked about, that they actually
01:23came true in so many different ways and it's hard for me to talk about it.
01:31But these are tears of joy, joyous tears for this actually coming to fruition that, that she
01:42has wanted for so long and worked so hard for it to come together.
01:59And so if you guys look on the floor here, it says the slurkle at the playground.
02:07A lot of people are like what the heck is a slurkle?
02:09Well, I like to make up words.
02:12There's one that I've made up that is in the name of this ice cream company, which is Smize,
02:17which means smile with your eyes.
02:20The slurkle means to slay the circle.
02:26So when you come here, you can slay, you can runway walk, we'll tape you, we'll record you,
02:32you might be on our socials.
02:34We want you to eat your ice cream and we want you to be fierce.
02:37I worked so hard on this lighting with our team to make sure that when you are in here
02:42and you are taking your photos, you look good.
02:44I'm looking at everybody right now and you guys are all glowing.
02:48I chose the lighting to go with skin, all skin tones, all skin colors, all cultures,
02:54from alabaster to ebony, you know, because we don't just want to taste good, we want to look good too.
02:59Period.
02:59Period.
03:00Yes, right?
03:01So, yeah.
03:02And this, my mom knows this now, but this is dedicated to my mom.
03:07This shop is dedicated to my mother because she always wanted us to have a better life
03:13and we started with a one bedroom apartment and then a two bedroom and a three bedroom
03:17and this is almost like a dream house and it's dedicated to my mom.
03:22Yeah.
03:26Would you guys like to do some more tasting or did you taste everything that you wanted to taste?
03:30More.
03:30More?
03:31More.
03:31More.
