00:05When you come out here, when all the stresses and strains of regular life happen and you come
00:11into a space like this, what do you think about? I find it a very spiritual and very intense
00:17emotional reconnection, I suppose, these environments. Not everyone has that same relationship,
00:24perhaps with nature, but it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance
00:31and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world.
00:38It's important to remind people that we do belong in a space like this and there's joy to be had,
00:44challenges to take on. I think it's really important for young people to have access to nature
00:49because it's a space where they can push themselves, they can challenge themselves,
00:53they learn leadership skills, spend time making friends and those lifelong really great memories
00:57that we all hold on to. And I think if we can do that, we'll build up a generation who
01:02is passionate
01:02about our natural spaces and passionate about protecting them as well.
01:06Sorry to break in. How are you all doing? Good? So beautiful because so many of the walks here,
01:12you can see Lake Windermakers, it's huge isn't it? Look how hill it is over here. Have you done any
01:16of
01:16these big mountains? What's so fantastic about the Scouts is that the same foundations that have always
01:21been there and still, you know, despite how different the modern day world is now, actually
01:26it still resonates with so many young people and it's making such a massive difference to them.
01:31They inspire me in many ways. They grow up happily, so they learn all the skills,
01:36they have more confidence, they have more self-esteem. These are very important skills
01:40for them to succeed in their life. The skills you learn within Scouting are things that you can apply
01:45in school, in work, in careers. They're life skills and that's why I'm so proud when we talk about
01:51skills for life. I think it's brilliant. The great thing is the Princess of Wales is our joint president
01:58and having someone of her profile being our president is great for the Scout movement. When you come out
02:04into a natural environment, it helps you understand yourself that much more. We really belong in nature,
02:09we're in tune with it and I think we need to come back to it because there is definitely something
02:12about being in nature that's connected to our wellbeing.
