00:00Good afternoon everyone, Rene and I are so delighted to be with you here in Birmingham
00:05for our World Foundation Youth Forum.
00:09Mental health is something we both care deeply about.
00:13Back in 2016, we were all heads together and campaigns supported by so many wonderful
00:19clients that help raise the stigma around mental health and encourage more people to
00:24have everyday conversations about it.
00:28Alongside the efforts of many of us, we could see the real change.
00:32Today, more people feel the power to talk about mental health than ever before.
00:37This is the latest step in our life.
00:39Gwyn and I continue to inspire to see younger people, like people here today, leading this
00:45charge.
00:47Being particularly brave and having some of those conversations yourselves.
00:51As a generation, we may be able to talk more about mental health than any of the three,
00:56something we truly have learned from the world.
01:00It is important, however, to remind ourselves of the big picture as a community here today.
01:06What are we trying to improve by focusing on our efforts on mental health?
01:12Ultimately, we are welcome to build a happy end of a healthier world.
01:15We want to shape a fairer, safer, kinder, more equal societies.
01:22Societies that seek the common good and invest their future together.
01:26For just as we need to restore, protect and invest in our planet, so we must also restore,
01:33protect and invest in our communities, relationships and people living on it.
01:39And we believe that's ours for you, our younger people.
01:43But it also means that we're all of us.
01:45Because when we think about it, we can each shape the world in which we live.
01:51So, we know, I believe, that simply talking about mental health is just not enough.
01:58Because although many more conversations are now taking place, it is now vital.
02:03We spend more time focusing on how we talk about mental health,
02:07and, crucially, what we're going to do to build positive, preventative solutions
02:12to one of the big toughness challenges.
02:17Positive mental health is shaped by our ability to understand and manage ourselves as individuals,
02:23and to connect others through our relationships, friendships, families and communities.
02:29We live in a world that is changing so fast,
02:33where social media and himself as a matter of conflict, pandemics,
02:38climate change will possibly live and impact our racial welfare and future hopes come out today.
02:45On top of this, as young people, this can also give us time in your lives
02:50when you have some vulnerability of growing independence in your self-consciousness.
02:56But, I give you deep insight into ourselves,
03:00we'll be better equipped to handle the external investment before being out.
03:07Today we have a science and a research that backs us up,
03:10and how crucial it is that we have the skills needed to navigate everything we face in the future.
03:19William and I believe we need to do all we can, as a society,
03:23to help young people develop the emotional and social life skills they need for good mental health,
03:29and to thrive in the world.
03:31With learning about the world, and learning about how to be happy and thrive within it,
03:38should we own a family.
03:41So, if we talk about mental health at this moment,
03:45it means we'll have so many negative connotations.
03:47We can choose to see our emotional balance and mental wellbeing in a different light.
03:53We can organise it, and recognise it, as something we all know about, and require as human beings.
04:02This will be our key focus for us both, as we build our lives together.
04:06Thank you so much, all of you, for joining us today.
04:10Together, let's talk about some more events.
