00:04Hello I'm Alex James. It's a beautiful day on the farm. Let's have a look around the
00:08garden. Look we've got raspberries here. The kids used to fight over these when
00:12they were younger. Oh my word, so bursting full of flavour. Potatoes there, ready to
00:20come up. Let's take a walk down the pergola. Flowers on that side, fruit and
00:25veg on this side. I want to show you the herb garden. Having lots of fresh
00:29herbs to hand makes me feel like a king. It really does. This is fennel and in high
00:36summer it makes it got an incredibly complex smell. It makes this whole
00:41garden just smell absolutely fantastic. That's oregano, the pizza herb.
00:50Lavender. It's actually quite good with lamb, lavender. These are chives. It's always
00:56nice when the first chives start to appear. They're kind of past their best now but actually
01:02these purple flowers have got really lovely flavour. They look lovely when they're sprinkled
01:07on a pizza. Some sage here. The mint's fantastic with just about everything. Amazing with peas,
01:16potatoes. My grandad was a chef and the first thing he taught me how to make was mint sauce.
01:21It's a really good thing to teach your kids. Bay leaf is kind of like the king of the herb
01:24garden.
01:24Just that leaf has got such depth to the flavour. Here's your thyme here. It's creeping
01:30tight. It's in flower now. So there's the herbs. What's popping in vegetable town? Any strawberries
01:38left Charlie? So we grow a lot of chives. These ones are still good to go. Just chop them
01:44off there. Chive blanket on absolutely everything. Bit of salad under here. Got to grow that under
01:51cover otherwise the weevil's getting there. Oh my god, it's delicious. Mmm. So it's nearly,
01:59they're exactly right for Wimbledon normally, strawberries. That's when you get them. Go on.
02:05Oh, there we go. Go, look at that. It's still, it's warm in the sunshine and that is perfectly
02:10ready to go there. That's going to be absolutely delicious. Oh my word. Mmm, mmm, mmm. Ah, too good.
02:20Plenty of poppies. It's a shame to cut those down. This is all salad that's bolted. This is so,
02:27this is actually, this is really interesting. It's like, it's an oriental one. They taste like
02:31horseradish, menthol. Yeah, so they're so pretty, aren't they? These are like ornamental. So yes,
02:38this is, this is peas. When, when the leaves are young like this. Really nice. It tastes just like
02:42peas. They're nice in a salad. And we've got lots and lots of different fruit trees on the farm.
02:48There's a gift that keeps on giving. You can, like one like that, this one here that we just planted
02:52this year. It costs 10 quid. And you whack it in the ground and then next year it looks like
02:58that.
02:58And then the year after that it looks like that. And, ah, it's wonderful. These are all different
03:02varieties. These are all different heritage varieties of, ah, of apple. Sort of September,
03:07October time. It's lovely wandering around there. Chillies and, ah, mainly chillies in there. And
03:14actually oranges and olives. But, ah, oranges is tricky in the UK. Here's the bees. They're the engine
03:21that makes it all work. For years and years, we struggled to make the bees happy. And then, ah,
03:26about three years ago, we suddenly had about half a ton of honey. And the whole garden went boom,
03:31that was it. Everything was singing. So those lambs were only born in, ah, only born a few weeks ago.
03:37It's incredible how quick they grow. There's mum there. With the Cotswolds where we are now,
03:41it's synonymous with, ah, with sheep farming. So this is kind of where the farmhouse stops and
03:46we're in, we're into the farm now. But you can see the way this field is S-shaped. Um, and
03:52that means
03:52that, ah, it means it's a really, really old field. Um, it would have been, ah, it would have been
03:58ploughed by chains
03:59of oxen. And because of the way that the long chains of oxen turned, you ended up with an S
04:04-shaped
04:04field. So that means that's really, that's really old. Down, that's kind of like main,
04:10main Feast of Events space down there. So there's going to be, ah, that's where everybody's going to
04:13be, ah, enjoying themselves. And actually, what we've, what we, I mean, where we like hanging out
04:19as a family is like in the, in the woods. Just, you know, just like connecting, just feeling the
04:23countryside. You know, that's, that's the joy of it. So that's a quick look around the farm. Um,
