00:00Fear is not the enemy. Waiting to stop feeling afraid is. I love that quote by Marie Folio because
00:08fear is a natural human emotion. When we've never done something before, we do feel afraid.
00:14Fear has also kept us safe as humans all throughout the century. It alerts us to danger
00:20and makes sure we stay alive. But when it comes to our dreams, we can't take that same approach.
00:26When it comes to our dreams, if we feel fear, that is a sign that we must move forward. Because
00:33guess
00:33what? On the other side of your fear is greatness ready to be unlocked. In a boxing match, you always
00:41see a heavyweight go against a heavyweight. You never see a lightweight trying to fight a heavyweight.
00:47And in the same way, your biggest fears are often a direct correlation to your biggest dreams.
00:55Let me tell you a quick story. So my name is Tiwalola Ogunleisi. I'm a confidence coach,
01:01author, and founder of Confident and Killing It. Now, before I started my business, I had an idea
01:07that I wanted to break the generational cycle of low self-esteem in women and girls and start to
01:13create media and content that empowered people to love and believe in themselves. So one day,
01:19about nine years ago, oh no, seven years ago, I grabbed my phone and I recorded a video of how
01:24important it is to love and believe in yourself. After I recorded that video, I was struck with
01:31fear. My voice, the voice in my head started to say, what if they doubt you? What if people laugh
01:36at you? What if this is awkward? Your skin isn't clear enough for you to be on camera. And all
01:41of
01:42these negative things started swirling around in my head. And that is an example of fear. It's a negative
01:47thought of something in the future that hasn't even happened yet. So you often go into your future and
01:53think of all the things that could go wrong. You think of all the things that you don't want to
01:58happen. And then it makes you afraid. Negative thoughts lead to negative feelings lead to you
02:04retreating and giving up to fear. But in that moment, I told myself the message in me is so much
02:12more important than the fear I feel. And I took that leap of faith and I posted that video. That
02:19video
02:19kind of went a bit viral. And I started getting messages from women all over the world telling me
02:24how much they appreciated my confidence tips, who I was and what I was standing up for. And before I
02:30knew it, one video led to another video, led to another video, led to events, led to a podcast,
02:36led to a book deal. And here I am today making this video. So imagine if I had given into
02:43the fear.
02:43Who would I be today? There is so much potential and greatness ahead of you
02:49waiting on the other side for you to overcome that fear. So instead of thinking of all the worst
02:56things that could happen, I want you to start thinking of all the positive things that could
03:01happen. Think of the outcome you actually want for yourself. Positive thoughts lead to positive
03:07feelings leads to you taking action. So the cost of giving into fear is so much greater than the cost
03:17of facing fear head on and moving forward. Even if you fail, you can always learn from your mistakes
03:24and keep moving forward. You can never lose when you bet on yourself, but there is so much to lose
03:31if you let fear win. Make a promise to yourself today that whenever fear comes up, instead of
03:38thinking, what if I fail? You're going to make the choice to think, what if I succeed? And just go
03:45for it.
