00:05at the beginning of season 12 can you tell us a little bit about where naomi is at
00:10at the beginning of season 12 so she's just back from spending christmas at st barnabas which was
00:17awesome and um of course she's a lot more confident she's done a whole year with the inspector and
00:25more comfortable with him she knows his um his ways and his weirdness and stuff so she's very
00:32comfortable and just very excited to um do her best and of course to represent her country well
00:39i saw the clip earlier of um you folding sheets well yeah yeah so that's sort of like more of
00:47a
00:47camaraderie more of a friendship there with the other characters definitely definitely um especially
00:54for the inspector because of course he's a bit quirky and stuff but um she's she understands him
01:01and i think that's one of the reasons why they work well together and um they've pretty much gelled
01:07and so she's very excited to just um continue to prove herself and evolve within the department
01:14and does that translate to real life as well like have you got that friendship now with the fellow
01:19cast members yeah we do uh the thing is when we're in guadalupe it's pretty much like a bubble
01:25uh so we hang out together anyways we go to the um the same bar we some of us live
01:33on this we live
01:34close we live on the same road or some people are staying at a hotel and we'll just go there
01:40on like
01:41a friday night or a saturday so we're friends on and off camera i do look forward to going back
01:47now
01:48i mean the first year was a bit oh i want to go home and i miss my family but
01:52i do look forward to
01:54going back and settling and especially because i didn't get the opportunity to see the island much
02:00in the first year and now i'm experiencing it and it's so beautiful and there's so much to learn about
02:06um the french culture and i'm actually getting a french tutor and i'm very excited about it
02:14i think ralph's learning french as well do you guys ever try and practice on each other
02:19ralph is really good with french he pretends like he's not he's like oh i'm just a beginner and then
02:25he reels off like six sentences back to back and he has conversations in french with the french crew
02:33which is lovely because of course you show that appreciation for the language and you know you're
02:39making an effort because you're working with both british and french crew i need to get to his
02:44level he's modest pretend but obviously you've lost like a big french tutor because um josephine's
02:53and i know you guys were like got on really really well how's it been without having her on the
03:00set
03:01um i try not to think about it too much because i mean it's lovely to work with her but
03:08obviously
03:08outside of work we became really good friends and we'd work out together and um i really haven't had
03:15that motivation since it's really hard just you know to get up by yourself and go to the gym or
03:21work
03:22out we still speak and if she doesn't see me training she'll go shunting
03:31um so i miss her but we do chat hopefully i'll see her soon hopefully i mean speaking about sort
03:39of stepping into her like you know detective role that means that you are out of uniform into
03:46and your costumes are gorgeous they're also so beautiful i mean do you have any say in like
03:52what you wanted naomi's style to be or is that the costume department listen can i just say a big
04:00big big up to our costume designer lisa dodgworth now you know these departments sometimes they don't
04:10get highlighted as much they're kind of in the background but lisa's costumes are so so beautiful
04:18i don't have to say oh i like this or don't like this she just knows what works for me
04:23she knows
04:24what matches my skin tone she knows what i like as a matter of fact so we go in and
04:29i'll do fittings
04:30like the first week or two and then after that i'll say don't tell me what i'm wearing i want
04:35it to be
04:35a surprise so every morning when i go in the trailer it's a surprise i never know what i'm wearing
04:41for day
04:41one or day two or day three but i know i love it obviously with death in paradise that from
04:46season one
04:47to now you know we're 12 series in like that you know i don't think there's any characters apart
04:51from don that are from season one to now so for you do you have an idea of like when
04:56you're ready
04:57through the journey on death in paradise to end or is the sky the limit for for naomi
05:04um well there are no limits for chantal um i there are no limits um i i can't say right
05:13now i will
05:14say i'm i'm enjoying the process i'm really enjoying the show um i'm excited that we have
05:21a solid team now you know so you know it's we're learning each other and learning to work with each
05:29other so it can only get better um so i mean i'm i don't mind being there right now i
05:39don't know how
05:40i feel next year or the year after that or the after that but i am i am looking forward
05:45to the
05:45next season and um i'm excited i'm really loving it right now so let's hope that continues we'll see
05:54and i mean obviously um with your character as well so this season you know we've got that we're
05:59meeting more of her family and her friends and her life um like in her home um island um are
06:05we
06:06going to see any romance on the horizon so i feel like fans are quite keen for marlon and naomi
06:11to
06:11be a bit of a thing but it seems like that's not happening but i mean could you see any
06:15other
06:16romances in naomi's future um i i don't know i i don't know she's so she's so focused now um
06:27maybe
06:28i don't know i don't know we're we'll just have to wait and see um she doesn't she's a workaholic
06:37she you know she's bear bear in mind as well that she's also new to saint marie so she'd have
06:46to get
06:46to know people and you know go out and socialize and meet new people um she's new to the island
06:53in
06:54the same way that the inspector is new to the island so um i don't i don't know if she's
07:01open
07:02to that just yet but you know you never know we'll just have to wait and see she could always
07:08pop onto
07:09tinder island tinder she could always do that if she finds the time but she's such a workaholic and
07:15she's just always trying to improve and impress and create you know make a good impression um it's
07:22almost like she'd have to ask permission to even uh entertain such things so i don't know we'll see
07:33we'll see might be interesting i don't know we'll see and obviously um final question this is gonna
07:40come out in new year so i was wondering do you have any new year's resolutions for next year
07:44i do and i don't usually make new year's resolutions um but i've it's more of a manifestation i guess
07:55it's
07:55the same thing i'm just trying to be healthy and happy healthy happy that will be me 2023 that's that's
08:06what i'm going in i'm i want to be in a new space i find that especially when you work
08:11so hard
08:13um it takes a toll on your body physically and so if you're not in a good space mentally and
08:20emotionally it it adds to the exhaustion so you're not just physically drained you're and it just
08:28breaks your body down and so i'm just trying to be as healthy as possible and try to be as
08:35stress
08:35as free as possible so that i can do my job effectively and i can you know be the best
08:42version of myself so that i can be that for everyone else because you can't be that for
08:49everyone if you're not for yourself first so healthy and happy for 2023
