00:00So Doc, how much of a threat is heat exhaustion to kids compared to adults?
00:04So children are actually not just little grown-ups. We know that they have a body
00:09surface area that is actually much larger than the average grown-up. So what
00:12this means is that they lose fluids and hydration much more readily through the
00:16surface of their skin. So it's really important for grown-ups to be mindful
00:20about heat exhaustion and ensure that children are also very well cared for
00:24during this high heat index. What are some symptoms that we need to look out
00:28for? One of the signs of heat exhaustion could be a flushed surface to the skin.
00:33We can also see nausea, vomiting, a lack of urine output, so a reduction in urine
00:38output, and just general lethargy.
