00:01Hi, everybody. I was going to post a clip from today's show, but then, because I've told you,
00:07I feel like you guys are my family, even though I haven't met a lot of you. I wanted to
00:13just
00:13come on quickly and share what's on my heart, and then I'll post more later.
00:18But I am executive producing, for the first time, my first documentary. It's surreal,
00:26really, because I've had this topic on my heart for years, years, and I finally just decided to try
00:33to do something about it. So it's called Stories We Tell, The Fertility Secret. And for years, I have
00:41listened and cried quite often with so many of my girlfriends who are having challenges having
00:47children, whether it's fibroids or endometriosis or IVF or surrogacy or miscarriages. There are just
00:57so many things that happen, and women are carrying these secrets day in and day out, painful secrets,
01:05and they almost feel like they can't talk about it. And so they go to work, they go to church,
01:09they go to the gym, they do all these things to try to keep moving forward, yet, and still,
01:13there's this painful burden that they're carrying. And so I felt like quite often when we talk about
01:19fertility, you didn't really hear the full story. And so I asked some of my dearest friends if they
01:24would be willing to come together to share openly and honestly about what's happening with a lot of
01:30women. You may know many, or maybe you yourself are dealing with it, or, you know, a lot of people
01:35are single, and they haven't, you know, found Mr. or Mrs. Wright, so to speak. And at this point,
01:41you know, you worry about your fertility and your eggs and all that good stuff. And we don't talk
01:45about it, but we all know that it's an issue. So we tackle it in this documentary. It airs Sunday,
01:53December the 19th on MSNBC at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 Central. It's a one-hour documentary, and I just
02:01pray that it will be well-received and that you'll support it, and most importantly, support the women
02:07who are sharing their stories, and not just the women who are in this documentary, but the women
02:11they represent, women all over this country, and frankly, this world, who are dealing with this.
02:18So that is that. I'll post some pictures of our behind the scenes. I'll post a couple clips,
02:27and in the days ahead, I'll post more. But that is my heart, the reason behind what I'm doing.
02:35I just, I poured my heart and soul into it, and I have talked to a lot of my friends,
02:42and you know,
02:43I have kids, and I didn't know what to say. I haven't known how to help or what I can
02:49do.
02:49I'm not a doctor. I'm not a researcher, but I'm a journalist, and I can tell stories. And so my
02:55way
02:55of trying to move the needle here is to share these stories, and hopefully it will spark a much-needed
03:00conversation in homes all over the country. And perhaps young girls who, you know, if they're
03:06going in for these surgeries, maybe they can talk about why they're, and ask more questions about
03:10why they're getting these surgeries, or you know, whatever it is. I just hope that we can start to
03:14lift a veil on this conversation. These are our sisters, our aunties, our cousins, and I think we
03:21should be our sister's keeper. And so that is my reason why. And so I hope you'll support
