00:00Rather a boastful video for you today about shrub roses. Just look at this
00:06beauty. Flower shaped like a peony, the most glorious scent, loads of blooms still
00:14to come. This is a shrub rose, it can grow quite tall, you can strap it into a wall,
00:18you can stake it a bit, or you can prune it quite low in March and it will stay
00:22lower. But it is an absolute beauty and it's called...
00:26Oh and Titch Marsh, I'm sorry. That's the end of the boast because what I want to
00:30encourage you to do is to go over your roses now and deadhead them because they
00:34look beautiful when they've been deadheaded but look what happens. You see, the
00:39flowers fade. If you take a pair of snips or a pair of secateurs and just go over
00:46the bushes, taking off those faded flowers and the petals that fade, snip off those
00:53little ones like that. And then you can look forward to a much better looking bush.
01:01But you see, suddenly the whole thing's transformed because everything is fresh
01:04and alive and gay and young. So with all your roses, go over them every couple of
01:11days, snipping off faded flower heads. It keeps the early summer alive, stops your garden
01:18looking so faded. Whether your rose is called Alan Titch Marsh or anything else for that matter.
01:24Enjoy your summer of roses.
