Hansi Biebl Band – Hansi Biebl Band 1979 (Germany, Blues Rock)
The Hansi Biebl Band was a German blues rock and rock band. It was founded in East Berlin in 1978, disbanded in 1982, and was active again with a new lineup in 1996. After the release of their first LP, the band also appeared on East German television, including shows such as Jugendklub and rund. Two LPs were released on the East German record label Amiga.
Blues guitarist and singer Johannes Biebl founded the Hansi Biebl Blues Band in 1974, which was banned from performing in 1975 after Eberhard Klunker and Olaf Wegner fled to West Germany. Biebl subsequently played in the Veronika Fischer Band and Vier PS. In 1978, he founded the Hansi Biebl Band, continuing the tradition of the blues band era, with distinct jazz rock and folk influences shaping the band's sound. The band's first LP was released just one year after its existence. While the compositions on the record were written by Biebl, Thomas Schmitt of MTS provided most of the lyrics.
