00:00My experience of giving birth at the Lindo Wing was one that was quite lengthy
00:05because I was in labour for 81 hours with Isla. She did not want to come out.
00:10While the Lindo Wing was a functional hospital, it was a little bit like a hotel in terms of the
00:16service.
00:16So you had really fancy toiletries that they provided you with.
00:21The quality of the food that you got was fantastic. There was a wine list.
00:24You could have had champagne if you wanted.
00:26And right after the birth, they bring you a delicious afternoon tea for you and your family.
00:31You have a lot of options when you're in labour.
00:33We were given birthing balls. We could lower the lights. They actually recommended that.
00:37And you had a midwife that was dedicated to you and your birthing.
00:42So she would come and check on you very regularly.
00:44My husband was treated very well and they were more than happy to create a bed for him.
00:49He could have a selection choice from the meals, from the menu each day.
00:53They're really supportive at the Lindo Wing of having your partner there.
00:56When we finally had our C-section and this little munchkin was born,
01:01we were in the aftercare after the cesarean and the midwife, we had a fabulous midwife,
01:06and she told us to kind of hang on in recovery for a while.
01:09We didn't really understand why, but it turns out the rooms upstairs were quite busy
01:14and the standard room that we had booked unfortunately wasn't available.
01:18So we ended up in one of the deluxe suites, which we're led to believe is where the royals also
01:22stay.
01:23It was a very large room. We could have all of our relatives there the next day
01:27and everybody could, we sat six people comfortably.
01:30Within the Lindo Wing, I think pretty much anything goes in terms of your antenatal care and afterwards.
01:36For example, if you wanted a massage, you could have someone come in and give you a massage.
01:41They were there with great service. If you wanted the baby to go to the nursery, they have a fantastic
01:45nursery.
01:46We didn't take advantage of that, but I know they were very keen and very happy for the babies to
01:50go to a nursery,
01:51which is actually something you don't have on the NHS nowadays. You have the baby with you.
01:56So if you want a bit of a break, then they take them away for you for a little while.
02:00And also when you're looking after the baby in your room, anything you need, any help you need is just
02:05a button away.
02:06You just press the button and you know someone's there within a few minutes.
02:10The staff and service, I can't fault them in any way. They were absolutely fantastic.
02:15We're very chuffed that we were able to have the opportunity to give birth where the royals had had their
02:20babies as well.
02:21Of course we wanted to do the classic Lindo Wing photo on the stairs and try to match our outfits
02:27to what Wills and Kate had worn
02:28and to have that sort of memento of our experience and time there.
02:32We'll see you there.
02:35We'll see you later.
