00:00I think what's fantastic about it is the incomprehensibility of its power over your
00:05happiness. Why should one be so happy just because there was a 15-minute ceremony and a swapping of
00:14rings and a little form that appeared, which is a registration of marriage. Why should that make
00:21one so dizzily happy? It's ridiculous. I don't know. But it has made me very happy. And I suppose
00:28part of that happiness is a kind of disbelief that this could ever have happened to me.
00:35It could have happened to two men. The country I grew up in was a very different one. And so
00:40there's that to celebrate. And there's to thank the pioneering campaigning work of generations of
00:47people from the early days of the campaign for homosexual equality, all the way through gay
00:50liberation, stonewall, and all the way up through modern parliamentarians who have been able to do
00:56this. It may be the 10th time, but it feels like the first every time and always has.
01:00You don't really learn anything. It's one of the, I think it's, if you ask any stand-up comedian,
01:06they'd say the same, that each time they go on stage is really the first time in many ways.
01:13Of course, it's not true. There are certain things that you take, you don't take for granted,
01:19but that you take as red, you know. But I don't know. Yeah, I'm quite nervous is the answer. I
01:26think you can tell.
