00:00What began with just a mixing bowl on her kitchen table 25 years ago has led to this
00:07crowning moment.
00:08On top of the 27,000 cupcakes Fiona Cairns bakes weekly, the former graphic designer
00:15now has one rather large fruitcake on her books like no other she's made before.
00:21It will be devoured by 600 guests at a wedding reception on April the 29th.
00:28The hosts, newlyweds, Prince William and Kate Middleton, the royal call-up came in February.
00:35I couldn't believe it, I was overjoyed, but I was working with half a dozen other people
00:45and so after the call I had to carry on pretending that nothing had actually happened and that
00:49was a little tricky.
00:52Like the wedding dress, the cake's design is being kept a secret.
00:56But it will feature the rose, shamrock, thistle and daffodil, the national flowers of the
01:02British Isles.
01:03It seems this bit of Wedmin has fallen to the bride-to-be.
01:07We have been guided by her right at the beginning and it's lovely that she as a bride has such
01:15a strong idea of what she would like because that's not often, not always the case.
01:21So the cake will be traditional but with a modern twist.
01:27Fiona Cairns creates for upmarket stores like Harrods and bakes for the likes of Paul McCartney.
01:34But this one will simply be the icing on the cake.
01:38Paul Harrison, Sky News.
