KUALA LUMPUR: A commotion involving fans broke out outside the KLFA Stadium following Malaysia's 1-0 win over the Philippines in the Asean Hyundai Cup.
The cause of the incident could not be immediately established, although tension was observed between two groups of supporters along a road near the stadium.
Several supporters were seen exchanging provocations before containers and drink bottles were thrown towards members of the opposing group.
Profanities could also be heard as tensions escalated.
The situation was brought under control with no further incidents reported, and fans eventually dispersed from the area.
The victory over the Philippines saw Malaysia seal their place in the semi-finals after finishing second in Group B with nine points.
More than 12,000 spectators attended the match, with Malaysia's winning goal securing their passage to the last four.
Malaysia will face defending champions Vietnam in the semi-finals, with the two legs scheduled for Aug 16 and 19.
