00:00Kelly Clarkson is opening up about the difficult years she spent helping her children cope with the
00:04loss of their father, Brandon Blackstock. According to a source who spoke exclusively to Page Six,
00:09quote, it's been an incredibly emotional year for Kelly and the kids. The insider said losing a
00:14parent at such a young age is something no child should ever have to go through, and Clarkson has
00:18done everything she can to be there for daughter River, now 12, and son Remington, known as Remy,
00:23age 10, as they've navigated that loss. The source added that Clarkson's main focus has been making
00:28sure her children feel loved, supported, and as stable as possible, while also giving them the
00:33space to grieve in their own way. Clarkson and Blackstock divorced in 2022 after a highly publicized
00:38split that followed years of legal battles over custody, spousal support, and their Montana ranch.
00:44The Grammy winner filed for divorce in June of 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage.
00:49She was awarded primary custody of their two children later that year, and their divorce was
00:53finalized in March of 2022. Blackstock, a former talent manager, died on August 7th, 2025 at the age
01:00of 48 after battling melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer. While continuing to put her family
01:06first, Clarkson has also returned to work. The source said she's enjoying making music again, is having
01:11fun with her Las Vegas residency, and feels that returning to The Voice is the right fit because it
01:16allows her to keep doing what she loves while also being the kind of mom she wants to be.
01:20Earlier this year, Clarkson announced that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show would
01:23be its last after seven seasons. The insider said ending the daytime talk show wasn't an easy decision,
01:29but it gave her the time and flexibility she needed to prioritize her children. Looking back, the source
01:34said Clarkson knows it was the right decision because being more present for River and Remy during such a
01:39difficult chapter has meant everything to her. The final episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show are set to air this
01:44fall, while her Las Vegas residency continues through August 15th. Clarkson also recently released her new
01:50single, I'd Be Lion, mark in another step forward as she balances her career with supporting her
01:55family through an incredibly challenging year.
