Tarun Tejpal has announced that he will challenge his conviction before the Supreme Court after the Bombay High Court convicted him in the 2013 sexual assault case. Following the verdict, the Tehelka magazine founder expressed disappointment and alleged that the case against him was politically motivated. During his remarks, Tejpal also referred to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam while arguing that he had been targeted because of Tehelka's investigative journalism.
